I'm confused...Is Pope Francis a moderator?...There are all kinds of political discussions around here...I'll stop now if religion context is frowned upon...Sorry

It’s more about literary styles than fiction. Just my opinion on it. Do I believe the world is 5000 years old?? No. Do I believe Adam and Eve were the first MODERN humans. Absolutely. I don’t think the Bible is fiction at all. Tons of architectural finds have happens because of what is written.

It really is just understanding the style that it is written. Like I said, my humble opinion and just what I think :cheers:

I'm a man of Faith, but I believevwe all humans evolved from apes. Adam and Eve were just a member of the homo sapiens

So are we all simply offspring of the relations between Adam & Eve? Does all that 'begatting' written in Genesis essentially mean that the entire worldwide population is simply an inbred society? Just curious

The thing is, that the scripture that I believe in, explicitly talks about evolution. We all living organisms have evolved over the course of millions of years.

evolution, as Darwin wrote it, is an impossibility. You can’t have evolutionary explosions and there are many examples of evolutionary explosions

Creationism doesn't make sense to me at all. We have never had an example of creationism. Not just the living organisms, evolution is happening everywhere, look at the mountains, look at the oceans, continents, look at the stars, its happening everywhere.

Respectfully, I disagree. Intelligent design is everywhere. There is “intelligence” in everything that surrounds us. Look at human intelligence. It went from basically nothing to what we are today in a VERY short amount of time. Cambrian explosion?? How? Simple life forms to complex basically overnight? How?

like I said, I don’t think the world is 5000 years old. I also don’t think that the Darwinian form of evolution can happen. Once again. Just opinion

60 million years is a lot of time, like A LOT. If there is a creator, which my faith says there is one, than that dude may have intervened and then let biologically take over. The creator did not make things in some heavenly factory. He let biology do the job. After all if a creator is up there, then biology is also his creation, a tool.

I'll play. I don't think the human brain can comprehend what it's like when we die. There is classical mechanics that we perceive our reality in, and quantum mechanics that we don't fully understand. Both real to us with numerous uncharted dimensions within. Our brains have evolved only for optimal survival needs. Consciences plays a part, turn off the microtubules (anesthesia) and we enter the stage of death, sleep or what it was like before we were born. Time stops with no perceived delay. Great discussion with so many probabilities.

Is it though? Comparatively?? Think evolution. How long does it take to go from a single cell organism to….us…. And why aren’t there any other animals that evolved like we did??

There is a verse in the Quran that freaks me out always. It says "Remember when you promised that you would worship me?"
Scholars say, after studying the whole context from other verses, that we had a non physical existence in the beginning. We were, each one of us, gathered and promised to the creator that we would worship him. And then all of us were put to sleep.

Hence, my theory of the pysical world being a dream. I kind of mixed Simulation Theory and that verse from Quran for my theory :D

Birds have evolved and so many other animals. Neanderthals tried to be like us but we killed them.

so mico evolution vs macro. You are talking about two different ideas. And did we?? Or did we mate with them too? There are close to a dozen versions of “lesser” humans that died out

Do you believe this...The Book of Genesis says, "The sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose," Genesis 6:2. Their children were god-human hybrids that the Bible refers to as the "Nephilim...God was unhappy about this interbreeding and "regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled," Genesis 6:6. So he sent a flood that wiped out many of the humans and Nephilim, but not before ordering Noah to build an ark that saved a select few. The biblical story suggests that the breeding between gods and humans was a major factor in God's decision to send the flood...So all of the creatures on this planet were actually descendants of passengers of this ark including the ones that have become extinct since then...God must have a sense of humor saving the mosquitos & fire ants.

Yes we mated with Neanderthals. And yes, there were many humans, we are just one of them. People still have Neanderthal genes in them.

you just brought up a shit storm. My friend, you and I need to go have a few drinks to talk about all of this.

what are nephilim? Depends on interpretation.

there are eleventy billion stories of the flood OUTSIDE of the Bible. Something like it probably happened

Going back to evolution on a basic small scale level. Animals can evolve into a different breed. Puggles are a great examples of this. Half breed that is a full breed?
