I have no brake creep either, even with the A/C on causing the engine idle speed to go up and down while pointing down hill.

The only compliant I have is the dead zone in the first few inches of brake pedal travel. I've driven a Toyota Venza and the dead zone is even worst than the T4R.

Ill take that kit kat if he doesnt want it

if brake break in was necessary it would be more notable at time of delivery. I have had a few new rides and it has never been mentioned on any. If so we would all be reading and hear from our uncles....make sure you break in those new brakes on the new 4runner or it wont stop

I had to bed in the brakes on my MYB when I replaced the pads. What a difference it makes.

also doing that on the two wheeled motorbike. Notice a significant difference between bedded in brakes and ones that aren’t.

    WOW JUST WOW !!!o_O

2020 SR5 PREMIUM 4WD. Brakes are perfect no issues. You have power brakes like any other truck out there. Weak legs? Yes brake pedal feels like "rv" brakes. But it stops the 4 runner. No big.deal.

I think my only complaint regarding the brakes on the 4R is the few times I’ve had to stop under heavy braking, I felt ABS kicked in a little too soon and made the situation a little more risky than what I was comfortable with.

Bedding brakes isn't absolutely necessary. It is just a procedure to help expedite the process of mating the pads to discs while potentially increasing the overall performance of the brakes.

Will your brakes work find without the procedure? In most cases, Yes.

I personally choose to bed my brakes.

The brakes on my 2017 Tacoma TRD pro are great. I also engage and disengage 4hi plenty and drive it quite a bit to make sure I at least get the 10 miles per month in as per the owners manual (no turning of course.) Never had any issues in the 3 years I have owned it. The brakes on my 2018 SR5 P feel better and seem to take even less pedal effort though.

Sounds like a reason to not pay for faulty brakes. "DID YOU BED THEM", oh you didn't. Well the owner has certain things that are expected to be known. Sorry.

Dealers use to say , for decades , let the piston rings mate with the cylinder walls. Drive 35mph for a few miles and don't push the engine for at least 500 miles. If you don't your car will use oil.

Total BS First of all if the brakes need to be BED the company would be telling you , for liability reasons. Think about it.

Never saw the point in bedding them since most new vehicles come with couple miles. I'm sure the guys driving them around didn't bed them.

I have never bedded any brakes on my Toyota trucks but in all honesty I do find the 5th gens to be the weakest. I have owned a 1st and 2nd gen 4Runner, two 1st gen Tacoma, and a 2nd gen Tacoma. I wouldn't say they are bad per say but since mine was brand new it always felt like I had to press down far to get good stopping power and they are the least powerful of all my prior trucks. I do realize that it is a very heavy SUV and I agree with one of the above poster's about the ABS being too sensitive. One time when I had to panic brake at about 30mph with my Atv and trailer (1200k total weight) and the rear end felt like it started violently skipping. It was slightly nerve racking but ultimately the truck did its job. Sometimes I notice the ABS kicking in while coming to a stop of rough roads which also causes the bouncing/skipping sensation. Additionally at my 20K (1 year after purchase) service the dealer said my rear brakes were abnormally low but my fronts were fine. This may have something to do with me leveling it and the rear BP valve...not sure just speculating. Either way I am a very slow driver and I make it a point to allow the trucks weight to safety slow me down and only use the brakes were necessary.

Another question. Car and trucks are not the only things with Disc/pad brakes. Airplanes have HUGE muliti layered disc type brakes. Can you imagine Delta telling a pilot to be careful because the brakes have not been bedded? Maybe he could just circle in the taxi area for a hour or so just to make sure he's ready to land without any problems.
