Yes, I read that.. Not sure why? I was going to bypass the door switch, just to see what happens when I open it, and its still running..
or, I could just start it while I am in the car, then see if hitting the unlock button does anything.
You have to turn key in the key versions, and the start button in the push button to allow car to be able to drive, correct?

Yes, the key version is turn the key and hit the brake.

As a basic circuit, the door switch may be programmed in the BCM. Unless you actually get behind it physically and just splice it to constant ground, so it is always engaged. Since the door switch is just a ground break momentary switch, like a hood pin.

So, on the push button I get in and hit the brake and push button start it after opening door regardless as it will shut off.
But, if I am in it, and start it, it will run for however long its programmed for, unless a door is opened. But, I wont necessarily be able to put it in srive and go as its still in a remote status.
I will experiment with it..OCD does that to ya..

    That's actual
LOL, well it's very intriguing. Cuz our CR-V remote start does not shut off and has push start, but you still have to press the brake and start button. So, it only goes to question whether the function of the door switch is programmed to the BCM (and what other things it's tied to).

I don't know if anyone has tried to mess with that or not, maybe out of fear of the BCM just shutting down everything cuz of detecting tampering.

I jumped on the Accessorides July 4th weekend sale (which goes through the end of the day 7-8-2022 today 15% off) for my 21' Venture. Should arrive tomorrow. I just did the basic system that uses the OEM fob for now. May add the app module later.

Anyone have any special tips/tricks on installing the Accessorides system? Looks pretty straight-forward from the YouTube video they have on their site - but it seems there's always something that needs special attention to get exactly right.

Accessorides works great. Toyotas key fob, not so much. I am first going to replace the battery, see if that helps with distance. If not, I will see about adding longer range set up. Very nice and easy install on the 2019..

it's really easy, all plug and play, just being mindful of your wiring routing. I wrapped around my steering column and had to redo it. LOL.

Thanks. Did you need a car dash pry tool (vs. a flathead screwdriver) to jimmy any of plastic loose?

it'll help but not absolutely necessary. The dash panel can be pulled away with your hands, if you get a good enough grip around the steering column area.

I just ordered mine during the 4th of July special - a dash/trim pry tool was included in the package.

Maybe it's just me, but I could have used a little more clarity in the installation instructions/video. If you use them together they mostly cover everything, but some more pictures and text wouldn't hurt.

For example - where do I stash all these new wires/harnesses/plugs/box?

Agreed. I had the same experience. It seemed easy enough piecing the instructions and the video together, but when I got into it, I also found questions that I didn't have answers for. With the cost of the Venture (which I bought new) and the fact that it's the one I plan to keep forever, I figured it was worth a few extra bucks to know it was done exactly right. I probably could've figured it all out, but just decided to get help on it.

Here's what I went with, in case it helps anyone.

I used the 3M double-sided but removable tape to mount the box - the stuff you usually use for mounting LED lightstrips. Two strips on the box.

    IMG_1210 Large.jpg

I mounted it to the top of the driver's knee airbag, flush with the back (closest to the engine) and next to, not on, the bracket so that it sits flat on the airbag.

Here's that space without anything in it, looking through the bottom of the steering column with the cover's lower half removed.

    IMG_1211 Large.jpg

I checked first to make sure it clears the steering column for the full range of motion; it does. Here it is mounted with the steering wheel in the highest position.

    IMG_1212 Large.jpg

And here with the steering wheel in the lowest position. I couldn't get a good photo of it, but there's about 1/2" clearance between the cables and the box. Nothing is touching or rubbing.

    IMG_1213 Large.jpg

As for the additional cables, I wound up the glove box/telemetrics extension with the original twist tie and pushed it in the hole between the driver and passenger sides. I then bound up the remaining cables behind the steering wheel adjustment and zip-tied them to the lower aircon/heat duct, just snug enough to stay put. It took two of the included zip ties to go around it.

Since it's a '22 you use the OBDII port instead of the 7-pin steering column lock. That tucks neatly just over the driver's kick panel.

Oh, fun fact/workaround - you can open the liftgate without the 4Runner turning off.

If you're sufficiently motivated then you could climb over all the seats to get in without ever turning the vehicle off. Just a thought.

My Accessorides Remote Start is in and working great in my 21' Venture. FWIW, my installers did have to call Accessorides a couple of times for some guidance on cabling. My guys said the Accessorides team was great to work with and super-accessible/knowledgeable, etc.

I just comm'd with Accessorides support myself with the question of whether the default 10-minute run time after remote start can be extended to, say, 15 minutes. The answer is YES, but the catch is that you have to specify that when you order the kit because only Accessorides can make this change. They will change it if you want to send your module back to them, but it's a lot easier when you order it. I REALLY wish I'd known that going in. I would have asked for 15 minutes. Just a heads-up there for anyone considering the Accessorides kit.

In a nutshell, I'm super-happy with the kit and Accessorides as a company. Thumbs up recommendation.
