Update to my update: Got a phone call from the General manager claiming it was a misunderstanding with the salesperson and I'm back on the list with the 4runner at 695 over msrp coming in March. Will update once I get the car or will update if they are blowing smoke up my ass. Thanks everyone for the suggestion!

Sure it was a misunderstanding. Wonder if they got wind of this thread somehow. I bet the salesman and manager got reamed by the GM for throwing him under the bus. I’d be curious to see if the car you get has the same VIN, or if they just took away a car from someone else instead.

Yes glad you are getting your 4R. It is still inappropriate to charge you over MSRP in my opinion particularly given this “misunderstanding”.

    That’s a pretty big misunderstanding.

I signed up just to add this post.

Marin Toyota in California does not charge a "market adjustment" per se, but the sales guy I talked to (who didn't sound too happy about this) said they are putting wheels on them, running boards and paint protection and charging $6-$10k extra.

Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington, TX is charging a premium of roughly $10k. With that being said, they gave me $6k more for my trade in vs. my local dealer in Austin. In that 10k markup, they include tint, nitrogen, zaktek "ceramic" coating, and a 7 year engine/trans warranty. I wouldn't normally pay the markup, but with how hard it was to find a black pro, I bit the bullet.

    Is that real?

Sounds like a 1980’s car dealer.

I’m not in the market, but I’ve noticed that our local dealership is listing 4Runners at $1000 over MSRP. I guess considering the circumstances, that’s not too bad?

they told me that when I was in the market late last year. I told them that sounded odd to do all that to a brand new Pro.

One thing I would say is avoid dealer installed electrical options (alarms/remote start) at all costs. Some forum members here have experienced serious electrical gremlins on their cars due to aftermarket electrical mods.

I just called them, sales guy seemed super friendly. Unfortunately they don't sell them outside of Missouri is what he told me.

Did Riverview charge you above msrp?

Edit - Called Riverview Toyota they told me they don't charge a market adjustment, but they do a lift, put a clear bra on it, etc. Waiting on the cost of that.

    @slopemanster Sounds just like the 80's !!!

From what I have found in California, any dealer with more than 2 4runners on their lots are selling way over MSRP and have the add ons just like slopemaster mentioned. Stevens Creek Toyota in San Jose has a TRD Pro- Its listed at $69.037 plus tax and license - SmartPath | Toyota (stevenscreektoyota.com) what a deal.... not going there again

I got the lift, pro wheels, 285’s, pro roof rack, predator tube steps, black out emblems and black pro bumpers on my ORP and the final number was something like $59k. My ORP looks like a pro. (My story is long and stupid haha I was supposed to get a pro but anothe dealership screwed me. I’m happy with this) They gave me $44k for my 2019 so it was a good deal for me, considering I got all of the upgrades I wanted on the new one. They have all been super friendly too.

I do not know. I actually bought my 2014 at Bohn. The deal I got there was $3500 less than North Shore. I did not expect them to all of the sudden make good deals.

Yeah Bohn is trying to bone me. I feel like if I compare area rates I can talk them down, they're the closest to me by far and really would prefer them if they work with me.

Price Leblanc in BR said $1500 over sticker. Allstar in BR said over MSRP but not sure how much. I told her not to bother finding out. Team Toyota in BR said no mark up but don’t have any ORP coming in for the foreseeable future.

Thank you! you just saved me thousands of dollars for a new sienna. The Paris TN dealer doesn't charge over MSRP and only has 399 doc fee. My local dealers plus a few out of states one I asked either charge over 3k, or have bogus options or cares that costs thousands. It took me 5 mins to put down a deposit and now its just 4 months wait.

Berge Toyota in Mesa, AZ is charging MSRP. They don't add any BS fees either. Dealt with Oscar, super nice guy and straight to the point.

Larry Miller Toyota in Peoria, AZ is about as bad as it gets. They charge $6,000 above MSRP and you can't get a straight answer from them, I had to ask the salesman RT 3 separate times how much the car was and he wouldn't tell me. The dude went to the car instead, shot a 60 second video and texted me the video, but wouldn't tell me what the price was.

    Ahh!! The "Dahlin'!" MF'ers

Backside Toyota is where my dad got his first Camry back in 89. They still on Vets?

You know the Northshore folk are always trying to sell to the people in their area. Northshore got more $$$ than the folks on the other end of the Causeway.

Can we add Rancho Santa Margarita on the list of shame? They’re in CA. Almost $8k markup on TRD ORP.

@Slikplate54 I can confirm that. At least a few months ago they had a 10-15k mark up for TRD Pros (I didn't ask about other trims).

The only one that does not have a mark up for the pros that I know (in the phoenix area) is Toyota Avondale
