You guessed it, Kudos! Collectively they're all called Hindu Kush mountains. It is a super long range.

I was just reading about it and the parent mountain range. Very interesting.

It is a one unique part of the world, all those mountains are connected with each other all the way to the Himalayas. Geologists say that the Indian subcontinent was floating in water and then collided with Asia, and then those mountains were born. Those mountains are still rising they say

I wish it was peaceful over there. Imagine having a Rubicon over there in the summer. And a good Jeep mechanic with you :D

    @kmeeg
Those TFL guys on YouTube, they take trucks where they have something called Cliffhanger challenge, Truth path and Dare Path. Have you taken your 4Runner to that trail? Colorado Trails seem so nice, they are dry and rocky. Washington trails are mud.

I just have one issue with those tfl guys. They will go out of their way to try to fail Toyotas, so that they do the Raptor Rescue crap. Raptor is not the king, the Rubicon is, so I don't know what the hell they're talking about

I haven't able to find where that Cliffhanger is. Its not a real name.
Even the Goldmine hill is not a real name but I was able to find the spot on Switzerland Trail (which is a real name). Camera doesn't do justice.

Same here brother. I just love the 4Runner for what it is. And it is amazing. Unapologetically old and thirsty, rocking a 5 speed and 4.0 Litre in 2022.
People beat the crap out of them and their big brother the Land Cruiser in some of the most f***ed up places and harsh terrains in the world and they never disappoint. If some Zombies or Bigfoot were chasing me, I would wanna be in a 4Runner lol.

4Runner would have gone over that second last obstacle with streets tires and 4Hi, that's it, no other tools. I know because I have done it.

I don't get this from them. That Raptor rescue video was like 5 years ago. They actually own a nice FJ, and they seem to always say good stuff about it & the 4R and Tacoma.

I did a whole bunch of wheeling over there. It was rough, lots of big rocks…just about every kind of terrain you could imagine in a single day. Roll out of the firebase at 95 degrees sucking in talcum powder sand in the desert and 6 hours later it’s muddy rocks, 12 degrees F at 11,500 ft. Could have been fun under other circumstances, but war made it suck. I took this picture around November 2003.

on topic: It isn’t really a truck, not really a crossover…the new Ford Maverick AWD mini truck has decent reviews. It’ based on the Focus chassis, so the aftermarket goodies are already available.

Thank you for your service. Without getting into politics, I just want to say one thing. Politicians dishonored your service. Your sacrifices went in vain

How does 4WD work on those Military vehicles? 4Hi, 4Lo, any crawl control?
I saw one of those on the highway towards Kabul, they're pretty fast for their size.

Full time 4wd, you can select hi or lo. 4 wheel independent suspension, nothing special, but they have planetary geared hubs. That is the game changer. I don’t know about the regular HMMWVs, but the GMVs are are go anywhere monsters.

Not really, not like big block GM torque you can feel when you hit the gas. It’s a diesel, so throttle response is somewhat lacking, but they are not geared really low. The hub gears are like 1.9:1 and the differentials are 3:42. I don’t know how to calculate the effective ratio from that. They aren’t like anything else really. It goes pretty fast on or off road and it will go anywhere. They are also loud and as uncomfortable as a vehicle can possibly be.

Anything military is rough. I have a lot of sympathy for soldiers. They come back with so many health problems, the least of which is herniated discs. They fall, they pick up heavy stuff, those things can cause your discs to herniate. I have even heard that just during the training some boys receive spine injuries. They should be given free health insurance for life, no questions asked. Send the bill to politicians in suits lol

Yep, but I'm very disappointed. All that money I could have given to 4x4 shop & accessories businesses now I have give for gas, utility bills & groceries. I feel like we are heading to the economy of the country that I came from.

I tested out the Outback prior to getting the 4runner. If I am honest… its actually better for what I really “need”. I liked the room, easier to load the kids, AWD is good, better MPG, etc. The 4Runner is so much better looking, reliable, and just plain old school cool!

If you can find an 06-12 Rav4 or 08-13 Highlander, they are kinda sleeper vehicles. I have seen some pretty cool mods for them as well. Lately the pricing has been insane on used ones…. but what isnt insanely priced these days!

I think the crosstrek is a great vehicle. Mainly because you can buy them with a 6spd manual transmission, but also because it has close to the same magical dimensions as a 3rd gen 4runner (probably not as much cargo because of its roof design). If it had a locking center diff and some additional ground clearance it would be very compelling.
