What can folks tell me about the premium package add on. I’m looking for an ORP, and I want the cargo slider and KDSS. Trying to figure out if adding the premium is worth it, as I will have to get running boards to get all three things and not get a moon roof.

Well, I see 9 trim levels for the 4Runner vs. 6 for the Tacoma. I own both. I guess I'm in the minority but I don't want crawl control and MTS, I just want the locker like you can get on the Tacoma SR5. C'est la vie.

This. Of all the things I wish I could have. A rear locker option for the SR5/P is top of the list.

    I stand corrected.

But, I still stand by what I said. Why put everything to OR has on the SR5? It would be stupid from Toyota's perspective. And, I guess I don't care what they do with the Tacoma.

And, AGAIN, it's not like the OR is that much more expensive. If you want a locker, pay for it. If you want an SR5 with a locker, by an SR5 and put a locker in it.

IIRC, mirror puddle lights, pleather seats, and moon roof, I thought. I didn't want any of those in 2019, so I skipped the P part. There may be other stuff included now.

Again, there's a small price difference from an SR5 to an OR. Or, buy an SR5 and add a locker. Hell, most of the people in OR's and PROs don't need a locker. Why would they need to put it in the SR5?

The moon roof was an add-on. It's not included with the premium package.

Well there you go. I don't know much about the package I didn't want.

So the Premium just added puddle lights and faux leather seats?

Out West, the ORP, as I understand at least in 2019 as I have one, also comes with MTS and Crawl Control. I could not find one at the time without the moonroof, and the running boards.

I think it is a regional thing.

Yes ORP comes with crawl, and I believe MTS, but the moon roof is an added package, which I don’t want the hole in my roof

Understandable. I would think in your part of the country that Toyota wouldn't just put the moonroof on all of them like they seem to do here.

That's possible. I believe in Canada Off Roads all come with KDSS, so who knows. All I know is that I have a '19 ORP without a moon roof.

Why are people asking each-other what trims have which options anyway?

Here are all of the answers:

Because I asked if the premium add on was worth it on the ORP, and there is also a discussion about the taco trims with a rear locker.

and this thread is about the different packages you can get.

Yeah. I'm just saying that rather than everyone guessing at it, maybe check Toyota's website.

Well said @Thatbassguy. I guess everything becomes unreliable at some point when it’s worn out or needs maintenance. Maybe that day will come someday with mine, who knows? I pressure wash mine after a salty winter up here in a snow belt, and it takes maybe 30 minutes/ year. KDSS is a premium feature that I love on my 4 Runner. On and off road. I can’t see how someone could be down on it. It’s great.

Sorry, my previous reply to this was lame, so I deleted it.

If you like leather, I would get the Softex. It's been durable and comfortable so far, and easy to take care of. I would buy it again. At 63K with minimal care, it still looks good.

I can understand why some don't want a moon roof, but if you find a good deal on one with it, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had a few Toyotas with them, and never had a leak. The T-tops on my '87 MR2 were a totally different story, though.

Well a few days ago the yota web site had the Off road Premium 4Runner front end wrong.

but anyways, I thought we were discussing different options. Can anyone guide me to more info on the multi-terrain monitor, is that the extra cameras around the vehicle?

At times I like the leather in the limited, but others not so much. From what I understand, it doesn’t get hot like leather and is easier to clean. The comfort was something I was wondering about.

I think the Limited has ventilated and possibly air conditioned leather, but I'm not positive.

The Softex will get a bit hot and sticky at times. It hasn't been as bad as I expected, but definitely can be uncomfortable occasionally in muggy weather. It only seems bad when it's in direct sunlight or super humid.

Yes the limited has cooling seats, I still sweat pretty bad. I put seat covers in my Tacoma and have liked them, but the wife does not. The comfort of the seats is one of the biggest reasons we want to switch the Tacoma for a runner.

Thank you @Roland and sorry for the late response to your PM. And sorry I should have be more clear on the post. I was looking for better mounting options that does not require drilling. Or a good holster option when seated. I bet easy access would lead to easy visibility and would have to keep it somewhere else when I have to go to my kids school or any place they are not allowed. Anyways don't want to be in trouble discussing details in this forum.
