I kind of hate my 5th gen 4Runner. It's the return of Gramma Ray!

Subarus that I have driven all seem to turn pretty good. And our Outback has handled snow and some dirt roads well.

Holy crap, this seat is a pain in my butt. I was driving for about 90 minutes straight today, and I was shifting constantly. The seat was bothering me on my half hour drive home yesterday, too. I was in my dad's Grand Cherokee for more than 4 hours last month, and I barely thought about the seat. I was in my friend's Hyundai Ioniq last weekend for about a half hour each way, and it was actually rather comfortable.

I'm getting fed up with this 4Runner. I already spent so much time and money trying to make the seat work for me. I think I'm going to take a 2 hour drive next weekend, and if I'm not loving it, I'm getting rid of the 4Runner by the end of October. This sucks.

I checked Explorer, Telluride, Pilot, Bronco, Palisade. All have nearly identical turning radii. Not sure what you’re having trouble with, but my 2019 turns pretty tightly for its size imo.

Seating comfort is subjective, but I have no complaints with mine.

Look on the bright side. If I do get rid of the 4Runner, you won't have to put up with me anymore!!!

Nah, you should still stick around to shit-post, I enjoy them.

I don't love my 4R, but I like it enough to hesitate selling it. My main sticking point is that I bought "low" in 2019, and pretty much anything I think of replacing with is more money and/or less reliable.

I can certainly stick around and take a shit!

I hear you about your concerns, but at this point I'm considering just giving up on SUVs completely, at least as a daily driver. I might get an old Wrangler TJ for fun. I miss my old TJ. I wish it didn't get wrecked. For the 4Runner, I'm getting to the point that I'm over it. It's getting more annoying than it's worth for me to live with it on a daily basis, or probably for any basis at all.

I think I'm going to enjoy the next few weeks with all of the windows down as much as I can before it gets too cold, and then it'll be time for me to move on.

I drove 1100 miles in the last two days and I still feel pretty good. I think the wooden bead seat from Amazon helps a little with that.

Got a link? I don't hate the seats, but I think the seats in my '03 were better. Maybe I was just not as picky back then, though. :notsure:

Just don't make the mistake I did and get a JK. I felt my old TJ was better built and more fun to drive than the JK. Sure, the JK was slightly faster on road, but that's about all it had going for it.

Didn't make it through all 6 pages, so if it's not been mentioned, why not try to find a solid 1st or 2nd gen 4R and fix it up? I think that will be my next "new" car play. New cars have all become so bloated in size, cell-phone esque apps/gadgetry, and price (especially price, OMG it's beyond ridiculous!) that restoring a classic of any kind to drive is becoming very appealing to me.

Went from a 2019 GMC Sierra to a 2023 4Runner. I think it is the perfect size

To be completely honest, the seat is the only thing that I absolutely fucking hate about my 4R. If it had better seats it would be perfect. I tried seat jackers, they help a little. But I’ve honestly been considering going back to a Tundra just because the seat comfort is that much better.

A TJ is definitely a good investment for a fun vehicle. And I'm pretty sure depreciation has bottomed on them, and they're going nowhere but up. I think paying more for a good condition example is worth the money, especially if it's relatively stock.

1st or 2nd gen 4Rs are pretty much non-existent, for the most part. 3rd gen, on the other hand, are plentiful. Good luck finding one that isn't rusted away, though, unless you limit your search to the west/southwest.

I have a 1st gen Tacoma, which is the same generation as the 3rd gen 4R, and it's a solid vehicle, but nowhere near as nice as my 4R.

We all know that seats don’t fit everyone. Me 5’5 and the wife is just a little over I know owning Tacoma, 4Runner , tundra. The 4runner fits use the best. Tacoma second but I definitely prefer them over the tundra. Sold the tundra to go back to the 4runner Pro.

I was skeptical at first, but I've liked it from the minute it came, which is about how long it took to install.

I have been taking my Secretlab lumbar pillow from my office chair on any extended trips. Makes a hug difference at the end of 4-500 miles.

Works good for me, Can confirm that the beaded cover does a fantastic job on long hauls, But do not currently have one. Let it go when I got rid of the F-250 a few years ago.

Noooooooooooooooo. No JK. No JL. No JT. No Chrysler as a daily driver. Been there, done that, spent way too much money and time in the shop.

I'm not going to try to daily a 1st or 2nd gen or even a TJ.

How far is the daily? I'd be comfortable in those up to 25 miles each way - if they're in good running/working condition (used to do that in my TJ). If I'm spending more time than that, I'd be looking for something more comfortable or/and efficient. To be fair though, we keep a 3rd car in the rotation so we have a backup if needed. If I didn't have a backup I'd agree with you.

Far enough that I used to daily a Jeep Liberty and it was a money pit. I know early 4Runners are 4Runners, but they're definitely aged.
