70 series, I think. Never offered in US. Supposed to be pretty kick-ass off-road.

Toyota dealership in Australia, brand new spanking 70 series. They get so many Toyota goodies that we don't get, and they still whine about the Tundra

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
Oh yeah, that might have actually been the one I was talking about with the one that's been in production for decades.

See I like the low key luxury of it. LC owners are confident enough that they don't care what anyone thinks of what they drive.

Knowing what they are, I respect 200 owners for that. On the other hand, when I see someone driving something like a Lambo or G Wagen, I think "giant douche".

Same! There's a minty fresh looking one running around in my town, I love the way it looks and it's size and proportions. Plus leaf springs at both ends!

I test drove one back when they first came out. Very noisy and gutless which is why I went with the 92 4Runner which was equally gutless but much quieter and felt more solid.

Took mine out yesterday. They are amazing vehicles. Everything suspension, from the control arms to the spindles, are 4x as heavy as a 4runner/Tacoma. Servicing the suspension really let's you know why they are so durable off road.

You are being so greedy :)
Anyways, that thing has the most articulation of any luxury SUVs. Can you even imagine the Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade doing that :D I don't get it, why Toyota is so obsessed with making their luxury SUVs also off-road capable

Well it works out for an off road enthusiast like me. Let the rich guy drive it the first 10 years, never take it off road. Then I buy it highly discounted, and go off roading very comfortably.

Yeah they say the LX/LC have two lives. Lux SUV, and then people lift them up and hit the trails

KDSS didn't come in the Land Cruiser until the 200 series in 2008.

I've swapped all the suspension on this truck. It now has regular Land Cruiser suspension instead of the AHC ( active height control ).

In 1999, I bought a 1986 FJ60 (13yo) from the original owner. With it came his original purchase documents. He paid about $17K for it.

It had well over 100,000 miles on the odometer when I bought it for $7K. I modded it, drove it and wheeled it and took it cross country on hunting trips.

When I sold it in 2018 for more than I paid for it, it had nearly 200,000 miles on it, virtually no rust, and all 6 cylinders tested to within 5% of factory compression specs.

It was a way slower than the 5th gen 4Runner and with the 4MT transmission (re-geared diffs (4.11:1) to bring it back to OEM spec on 33" tires) it got 15MPG downhill with a tail wind, and it was smaller and lighter than the 5th gen 4Runner.

There's a whole lotta nostalgia with these great older vehicles, but it ain't all peaches and cream either.
While that truck happily did everything I asked of it. It was time for its third owner to continue its legacy and I'm happy to report the third owner is doing just that.

I think maybe up to the 200 series, with Toyota it wasn't about making their luxury vehicle off road capable, it was about making their off-road vehicle luxurious.

So I actually kind of think that one of the earlier Escalades with the solid axle rear axle could probably flex similar, but I couldn't locate a photo. I did however locate a photo of this bad boy, but obviously this is very custom. I do like it though!

It's a second gen Escalade, the ESV one. Which is basically like a Suburban. Obviously it's very custom. There was a build thread associated with this, I took a quick look and saw that he swapped in a different transfer case, different front rear axles, and as you can see, that's a solid front axle conversion. Also, he mentioned that that front bumper is actually a Land Cruiser ARB front bumper modified to fit.

Interesting. It looks as long as the Land Cruiser, I didn't know that back in the day Escalades were not super long like today they are

@The last breed they just keep making them uglier and uglier. Also, I recently watched a review of one of these, and that does not look like an interior of $100,000 vehicle. I'm sure the build quality is great, but the Escalade and the new Wagoneer look much better inside.
