Today's Land Cruiser is a good $10,000 more expensive than the top-of-the-line Suburban, and Expedition. I may be wrong, but it is even more expensive than the Lincoln Navigator. And they always come in onectrim, fully loaded. Have the Land Cruisers always been comparatively more expensive or is it a recent thing?

I know the Land Cruiser is a beast compared to Suburban and Expedition. But LX should be more expensive, not the Land Cruiser

For the money that you pay for the Land Cruiser, you can come back home with a 4Runner and a Highlander lol

You can't even impress people with it. Not many know the worth and brand of Land Cruiser. They will think you are driving a bigger Highlander.
I once was next to a Land Cruiser at the stop light. I pointed to the driver to bring the window down. I told him, sir you have the best SUV ever made. He said thank you for saying that :D

Even the TFL guys put it as the number 1 when it comes to durability. I think if you drive your Land Cruiser for 30 years, then it isn't that expensive if think about it.

I looked at them maybe 7 or 8 years ago....I think they started at ~ $80k then....stopped looking and decided the 4Runner was a pretty good deal.

Such a small difference in price between the Land Cruiser and the 4Runner, today the Land Cruiser costs twice

Today the Land Cruiser is $65,000, and the name Land Cruiser cost $25,000, so $90,000 in total.

Long wheelbase Denali and Cadillac run somewhere between 90 and $120,000 depending on the model.

How could people afford cross country trips in those gas destroyers?

Back in those days, the price of gasoline in California was around $1.00 per gallon.

$2.5 still if you calculate inflation. Maybe destroying gas was just a norm. Now 9 mpg is shameful lol

Is there an inverse relation between reliability and gas mileage due to some technical limitation? Why Toyota trucks are so horrible gas guzzlers, I mean today a Cadillac Escalade gives you 21 miles in the city and 27 on the highway, and it has a big V8, 6.2 L.
