Your original post doesn’t give details on how long you have been chasing this diagnosis nor whether you’ve sought various professional opinions. That is certainly your prerogative to hold your details private.

However, your initial post implies you have seen one doctor for this diagnosis. If that is so, I encourage you- DO NOT RELY ON ONLY ONE PHYSICIAN’S DIAGNOSIS.

Encourage you to do some research and seek another opinion from a physician at an institution that is a center for excellence for Neurology. If you are unable to do the research because of your pain and anxiety, ask someone you trust and that has good research ability.
There are centers of excellence in the US and around he world for many conditions.

I was diagnosed and being treated for allergies while a tumor was the cause of my sore throat. We never stopped pushing for resolution until the actual, underlying condition was diagnosed and treated. Thirteen years clear now.

As for the anxiety and depression, glad you shared this with all of us as well. Please get some professional help quickly in order to help your mental health. The physical and mental health go hand in hand. Ask me how I know…..

Wishing you strength and a good outcome.

Our illnesses are personal. I am not in your shoes but making suggestions as if I were.

FWIW, 30 days in, you are way, way early in the fight. You should seek other professionals reviewing your situation. Stay with it and work to find centers of excellence for the current diagnosis. See what they say. Research the Internet. AND, please, please find a therapist that specializes in helping folks that are dealing with chronic illnesses.

You obviously have faith on your side as well. Hold that tightly but use it to give you strength to make double sure your diagnosis is correct. He will not abandon us.

My Dad was about 65 when he got it. My point is he leads a normal life now and the neuropathy is not a life debilitating issue. At age 80 he’s been great for 15 years the neuropathy is controlled.

He saw three neurologists trying to get help. Unfortunately it’s not an overnight fix.

I would seek some forums in your area dedicated to the topic and seek referrals in your area

Your biggest challenge will be maintaining a positive mind set and that’s natural. Only you can control what you think though. Stay positive, focused, determined and promise yourself not to give in and keep researching and trying new things while being thankful for the blessings to come.

They say that God gives pain to those he loves. God loves me. He will give me eternal peace. Some of his beloved were tested the most.

I am not interested in Paradise. I am only interested in anxiety-free world, where I will have 80 pulse rate and not 122.

Also, did it happen suddenly in your dad's case? Because in my case it literally happened in a matter of a couple of weeks

So I met my neurologist, and she didn't even consider it a peripheral neuropathy, she said it is painful paresthesia.

My Dad is pre diabetic so he has to monitor it. He watches his blood closely. Yes my Dad had it come rather suddenly. He was depressed like yourself and could not focus on life.

He and I like to fish so I took him to some lakes and rivers just to calm down and we went to some different churches to pray and pray with others with other illnesses.

Stay calm and confident and pray and research other neurologists in your area

That Gabapebtin gave my Dad his life back. I have no idea if it could for you but it’s worth the question to your doctors.

Thank you, I think diabetes is one of the most common causes of neuropathy. My vitamin B12 level. So I hope and pray this is just acute neuropathy because of vitamin B12 deficiency, and I'm taking my shots every week.

Also, there is a big difference between your dad and me. Your dad had established himself at 65, and he dealt with this pain in retirement. While in my case I haven't done anything so far in my life

That is true we all have different crosses to bear I guess. My Dad has had severe tinnitus (loud ringing in ears) since was 35. It was caused from loud noise’s especially in the military.

We all have to make a choice though to be positive is the glass half full or empty. I had to give my Dad a cheer up talk many times. It sounds like you need someone close to you to do that in your life. Surround yourself with positive people to boost you up buddy.

Go get a 4Runner and enjoy the outdoors too. Don’t wait for tomorrow my friend.

Hey breed, remember, God enters us through our wounds. He’s got this. Every morning I pray for His will to be done in my life. I also go over my prayer list and ask the same for them. You’re on that prayer list now. Hang in there brother.

Just picked up some Gabapentin from hospital Pharmacy. Took a 300 mg on empty stomach, boy it helped, like a good 50% relief. Not feeling drowsy at all. Doctor said that it's going to take awhile to get the full effect, and I can also increase the dosage once I am comfortable with it. Pay your dad my regards and tell him God bless him
