@BestGen have you ever run Primm to Stateline starting behind Whiskey Pete’s?

Tried to last night heading back from Utah but was stopped by a bunch of small fences. I didn’t pre-map it or anything smart. Just got caught in 15S traffic and tried to bypass in the dark haha.

In the end the shortcut was not so much a short cut. Was fun though!

I have not. But every time I’ve been stuck on the 15 I think about it. There’s gotta be a route through there. I bet the locals know.

    Hahaha.

I remember reading a long time back that you have to drive away from the highway. I’m thinking the mountain over there, you’re supposed to drive around it.

With our last minute planning of “let’s see what happens” we opted to stay on dirt near-ish to the 15. I think had we taken a route away from the highway we could have figured it out. Prior to the next trip out I’m going to see what I can dig up on maps haha.

Continue on the CMC. Made some time to knock that out, just before a trip to NV for some camping. Big Bear trip was cancelled due to the fires, and almost everything in CA is closed, so NV was the next best option.

As for the CMC, TRD Pro wheels + 1.25” spacers and 285/70R17 tires rubs the cab mount.

Cut the metal out, made a template out of cardboard, cut some metal plates, and burned them on. Hit them with some paint and done!

After the test drive, I’ll see what plastic (if any) needs a trim. That outside black piece is looking awfully likely to get cut! Haha

Street driving test passed. Clears lock to lock forward and reverse. This weekend we’ll test if it clears when stuffed :)

Had an awesome trip, didn’t take many pictures in the narrows and in the trees, but a buddy snagged these on the trail out.

why does it still rub? didn't you install SPC UPC? though that would fix the issue

    thanks!

Yeah, SPC upper control arms are installed. They’re set for the best settings to drive with, doesn’t mean best for tire clearance. I’d rather cut the cab mount than sacrifice driveability.
Plus with the 1.25” wheel spacers and 285/70r17 tires it’s pretty much inevitable that it’ll rub.
Didn’t try the 285s without the spacers, but the 275/70r17 that were on there before didn’t rub.

Liking the stance of those Ridge Grapplers, how's the road noise? Spacers or no? I'm about to put new A/T tires on the stock 2020 rims (not TRD rims) and have been looking around. And yes if there's going to be a 4runners.com meet up, I'm game. I'm taking mine out for a road test since all the lighting, racks, rear cabinet, water tank, etc have been installed and putting it to the test this weekend in Ocotillo. fingers crossed!

    Thanks!

They're still new, but have been quiet so far. My experience with off road tires, they almost all tend to be quiet at first and get louder as they wear. My last set of tires (Toyo RT) were the same way: quiet at first -> progressively louder as they wore.

There are Spidertrax 1.25" spacers installed. The tires would have cleared without them, but Bre wanted a wider stance while still rocking the TRD pro wheels.

Nice! Have fun! We'll be out that way over Halloween weekend

I've been spending a lot of time with the reviews and still went with the KO2s for the all around drivability. If they wear faster than others then so be it; I'll be ok with hopefully around 40k on them. There on order through Discount Tire and hopefully there's no issues with balancing.
I definitely like the stance with the Spidertrax just haven't pulled the trigger on the install. More worried about failure and what many have talked about a wobble around 50-60. What's the impressions other than a great looking stance?
Have a blast out in the desert; it was certainly windy up around Mortero Wash but found a couple places back up in Indian Gorge. Not sure if we'll make it out since it's Halloween; maybe just a day trip Saturday. I'll watch for you!

It’ll be busy out there for sure! Trying to come up with some quick ideas for lighted whips for night time driving.

    As for the spacers:
There is a lot of negative about them, but the negative needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

A new set of wheels with a lower offset/backspacing or spacers generate the same additional load on the hub/bearing because the weight is pushed further out.
The further out you go = the more added load on the bearing.

If you go with quality hub centric spacers like Spidertrax they really are no different that more offset wheels.
An important factor to note here is they need to be installed correctly and checked regularly.
There is a downside to them : you have introduced a new point of failure : an extra set of lugs and extra set of lug nuts.
So long as they’re installed correctly, thread locked, and you double check them on tire rotations you’ll be fine. But that’s a key detail: make sure they’re on correctly, and checked.

Are there wheel spacers failures? Oh yeah.
    But the grain of salt:
    Were they installed correctly?
Were they ever checked for torque?
Were they good spacers to begin with?

Up to you if you want to run them, but I have total faith in them as I also check them when I pull the wheels off, and check them during tire rotations.
