    Hello all!

My gf hasn’t joined the forum yet, but I wanted to get a jump start on the build and keeping track of her progress.

    Here it is now -

    How we got it -

After months of price shopping she found her T4R! Wednesday 4/8 we worked and at 3:15 left town on our adventure to go get this gem at Avondale Toyota. Great sales guy and the dealer was impressive.
Traded in her 3rd gen Quicksand Taco and said bye. Then hello to the new family member.

Left Avondale and headed home. Got back at 3:20am, slept for a few hours, then after work picked up the sliders.
Friday my buddy was headed to Headstrong, so we talked to Marie and had him bring home a full Bilstein lift.
Marie is awesome and highly recommend working with her and Headstrong OffRoad! Known them for years through TW and as always impressed by their service and knowledge.

Saturday, and at just over 400 miles, got the lift and sliders installed. Kept the wheels and tires from the Tacoma and swapped them on to the new 4runner so she’s already sitting pretty.

    Parts ready to go on-

Front complete (huge bonus that Headstrong can assemble these so I don’t need to mess with a janky rental spring compressor)
5100s with HeadStrong coils, SPC control arms (and drivers side has a lean spacer)

Tacoma’s make for a good work bench and storage place haha

Rear is in. Bilstein 1.5” lift coils with 5100s.

Drive test went great! Rides smooth as silk. Off to get an alignment today.

More mods and changes to come soon.

Haha yeah man, moved quick on it! It's sooooo nice wrenching on a fresh ride. Nothing is rusted, frozen, hard to remove. Ahhh it was great. Only two hiccups the whole time. Sliders have one bolt that doesn't want to line up, and rear sway bar gave me some trouble during the spring install. I'm new to this whole rear coil sprung suspension.
Overall was a walk in the park to do the front and the rear.

OH! And no bending of the firewall to pull out the UCA through bolt. Oh happy days! Not like a 3rd gen taco where you have to wrench the shit out of the inner wheel well to clear the bolt.

that's the right way to start a build, I learned from my prev rigs, makes no since waiting, just make it how you want the first time. Save so much, time, $ and stress.

Haha. Got lucky after selling some parts off the Tacoma to compensate for the new parts.
Would love to go full into all the mods at once, but definitely off on the right foot.

My favorite about the 5th gen 4Runner when it comes to the UCA install. No issues with taking the long bolt out or putting it back in. Probably the fastest install I did in a truck that has a almost exactly same front suspension as the Tacoma

I have a big smile whenever I drive the 4Runner compared to my Tacoma

Oh I believe it. It's a lot nicer to drive than my Taco. Already headed to the dealer for warranty work though - window is loose in the channel or something. Got all wobbly rolling down then back up. Super odd. I'm sure an easy fix - but it's less than a week old so off to the dealer she goes.

They’re set on the lowest clip and using Headstrong coils for the lift. I didn’t measure before and after fender to hub heights for the exact lift amount. Should be approximately 3" of lift.

You can message Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road to get set up with the same. Rides great, sits tall but not too tall as to mess with the ride quality.

Wrapping the front valence didn’t go smoothly (we ripped the vinyl) but learned A LOT as this was our first time working with the stuff.
    A0619D42-4B97-4965-A0AB-79F97C4ABC7C.jpg
Started to get the hang of it, kept working it to learn then ripped it off.
We did get the chrome wings in the grille wrapped.
    CE27EFD4-BDDB-4BC2-BD75-20D29777DEC3.jpg

Probably will derp the emblems, but the vinyl was fun to work with. Going to order a little more and try to knock out the valence again soon.

I tried wrapping the rear, played with it for a while and then ripped it all off. Bought some plastidip, havent had the chance to do it yet.

Haha. I hear ya. It's not easy.

We've got a few cans of dip to do the emblems. I avoid using plastidip when possible. I used it for a lot on my previous tacoma and after a couple years it cracks and looks like shit then you layer over it and it gets worse. Looks awesome for awhile - but long term, I think the time spent learning and working the vinyl will pay off.

Ditch lights are mounted! Not wired up yet, I lost the wire harness, so waiting on a replacement. Haha. Not sure where the switch will go but that’s a problem for another day.

These are CBI mounts and we did the heat up and melt/mold trick so we didn’t cut up the fairing below the windshield.

I am 100% positive that if I EVER tried to wrap anything I would end up with a large ball of wrap in the corner of the garage and neighbors coming outside to see what all the yelling and cussing is about.
