What's the talk about the next gen, either in 21 or 22? Most likely 22?

It's all speculation, but the most reliable info I can piece together says it'll be a 2023 model year coming out in Oct 2022.

There was an article I saw the other day that mentioned leaks from a dealer meeting. I believe it was new in 2022/ 2023 model year.

They're skipping 6th and going straight to 7th gen. All electric, no transmission at all. You heard it here first.

I guess the era of tough frame based 4x4s will be ending, predictably. The new Defender is a case in point. And it’s aluminum as well. Nothing is more certain than change. Bring it on. I’d love an electric 4 Runner, and Toyota could easily do it. They have more E experience than any other manufacturer.

LOL, it will still be frame based. I do suspect a new engine or 2, possibly a hybrid. The 4runner is selling very well these days. I doubt if Toyota will want to mess with their success too much.

True, I guess on the other hand no one practices incrementalism better than Toyota. Haha. They know that North American consumers will pay big bucks just for a new paint colour in any model year.

It’s disgusting it’s been this long already and they still have the same Gas hungry engine ‍♂️
Looks like I’m stuck in my Subaru now for another 2 years.

although the upcoming Bronco may tempt me but it will probably have crap reliability & massive depreciation compared to the T4R

I don’t know what it will be but what it could be opens a lot of doors both good and bad.

of course who wouldn’t want a little more power but keep the same power and put in an 8 speed tranny for mpg and upgrade the tech as much as was done this year. Keep the rear window set up. Add the power tailgate (or don’t but at least a better key fob) the blind spot and back up sensors people seem to want and personally I would love to see a dual exhaust integrated into the rear bumper as I like the balance. Maybe a little more interior storage or a better thought out center console but that’s nit picking.

what I would not want is more important. Don’t make it a sissy car and don’t mess with that rear window.

Back up sensors, power tailgate and dual exhaust but please no sissy car.
how’s about some more available color in addition to that, pink metallic should be one of them.

Mine too, I’m in the 33,000 ranking for preorders. I can hardly wait to bid the ICE goodbye! Having said that, I’ll probably keep my 4 Runner in the garage for awhile for trips into the wild places of Canada’s north.
