On average, 285/70/17’s are about 1.1" taller than a 265/70/17. So, you'll most likely gain just over half an inch (.55) of height.

Looks good, thought about adding spacers but I spent extra on a lift that was said to and did still ride as smooth as stock and I don’t want to loose that from what I hear the spacers make it ride rougher

Cool thanks! Hopefully I can notice it, after spending all the money to feel like it looks stock height is not good haha

LOL! I know what you're saying! I am +2.5/1.5“ lift and rolling on 295's, and stock 4Runners look like they're the same height when they pass me on the road. :D

You did the right thing. A good suspension lift will give the confidence to run on rough roads / trails worry free.

This spacer lift did not ruin the ride comfort though. But I don't have the confidence driving at mid speed on trails. I feel like rear shocks were topping out but not sure, because visually when I remove stock rear shocks and Bilstien5100 they both seem to have almost same extended length.

yeah ima hold off now that the 285s are on it feels a bit higher when I’m Driving and it drives so much better with these nittos compared to the coopers we had so it’s a run in my book I honestly feel it rides better then stock now

i think getting 285s after a lift just fulls the wheel well more and looks better.

front is a 285 and rear is 265 for comaprison.

i cant wait to put my 285 falkens on once these cheap ass Dunlop 265s wear out

it always looks lower when youre riding it it. Before i did the lift. It was 34” from ground to top of wheel in the front and 36” in the back. Now im at 36 front and 37 1/2 in rear. Add the 285s in tbe equation and you wont feel like stockers are taller that yours.

    Looks great!

You might want to swap out the Dunlops before the snow starts flying. I nearly spun out about 2 weeks into owning mine. The Dunlops were gone with 1300 miles on the odometer.

Otherwise, be extra careful! And, when in doubt, use 4wd!

Good thinking! I think the Dunlops are a fine summer tire. You can always go back and forth, if you don't want to get rid of them. Otherwise, some tire dealers have given people a small credit for trading them in with low mileage.

    Yokohama Geolandar MT's.

265's with a lift looks weird, put the 285's on and be done with it.

I think the lack of sidewall tread on the OEM tires makes it look extra weird. I've seen more aggressive stock size AT's look ok with a lift.

OTOH, I have a small lift with 295 MT's, and I occasionally think they look small. :D

Why not buy some good aftermarket wider wheels? Prices doesn't seem to be too expensive compared to what people pay for TRD Pro wheels.
The icon wheel I have marked below seems to be very good looking and they seems to be 17x8.5in wide.

Did you have to do any BMC stuff to fit the 295s? I have a TRD Pro, which I think is a 1.5" lift on the front end and 1" on the back. I want to get the biggest tires I can to fill out the wheel well.

I have a BMC, but I'm not certain it was necessary. I have heard of people fitting 285's on a PRO with minor trimming, but not sure about 295's.

Thank you for thE info. How much did your BMC cost or did you do the work yourself? I like the look of your tires in the profile picture, is that the one w/ the 295s? Also what tires do you have in the profile picture?

I don't recall the exact price, because I had it done while they were also making a custom front skid.

    Yes, that's the 295's. Yokohama Geolandar MT's.

My 4x4shop friend has OG 4Runner (similar body panel style as newer Limited / sports) needed BMC for GY Wrangler Duratrac 285/70R17 on Icon Rebound wheels with 3in lift. I guess real tire size (may be since Duratracs are 33in) and wheel offset also a factor for BMC.
