the fit it really close could just go maybe a hair talker on height, but the length is perfect to me... it’s about the hardest thing to put on, and keep the area lint free. I’ll have to take it off and use tape to get the lint and tiny bubbles out. Other than that is hides the scratches that I have, and I’m really happy how it fits and looks.

No kidding! I had my 2020 for less than 1 week and 500 miles when my radio died. It had to be replaced. No issues since!

Common on the whole line for the screen to go black. They removed mine and sent it back to Panasonic for refurb. Put a new unit in mine.

So picked up a 20 today and one of the 1st things I looked at was the screen. oh snap, its scratched! It was the only model/color I wanted so they said they would swap one from a night shade but wanted me to inspect it 1st. Ok, done, looked great. Spent 2 extra hours at the dealer for a simple install! anyway, get home and lesson learned, need brite light to see but the morons scratched it during the install! I already know what they will say...."you inspected it" and when I looked when it was cloudy out, couldn't see squat
Anyway bring a bright led light to inpsect these damn things and save yourself some grief!

I don’t think I would have gone taller to 4.25. I couldn’t get it to the very top of the screen where you will never touch anyways. It wasn’t easy putting on I still have bubbles around the edges. I gave up trying though after about 30+ min of getting the lint out trying to make it perfect. Wish any of you better luck.

Less than 2 weeks from dealership and I noticed the touch screen scratched as well... :( The screen material seems stupid soft.

I tried to scratch my Canadian made Corolla S’s screen. Couldn’t do it. Very hard surface. Wonder why it’s so soft on the 4R?

Not impressed by the reviews for most RadTech screen protectors, I got this stuff instead

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01COCWL1M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

in 7" x 4 1/4" size. I asked for 1/16" rounded corners, but it seems to have come out with sharp corners anyway, but that was probably for the better.

Installation needed a lot of care and making the environment dust free is the key. Otherwise, it was a pretty reasonable process. When on, the screen still looks as sharp as ever. The protector hides all the scratches and touch screen works fine with it. If I were to order again, I might make the height just a tiny bit shorter. I also applied the film starting with the right edge and progressing left. Might have been better to start at the top and work my way down.

If dust gets trapped or if I just don't like it, can this protector be removed without damaging the Toyota screen? thanks

All I can tell you that during installation, to get air bubbles out, I had to pull the film back every now and then. If anything, it did not seem to stick very well at all and kept backtracking on its own. You can for sure abort the installation without a problem. Even now that it's fully applied, I expect that if I were to peel it off from a corner it would come off easy, but now that I have it on clean I don't want to try. I don't know what the adhesive is, but sometimes stickers dry out later and become much more difficult to remove. I think it's intended to be replaceable, though - comes as a set of 2, after all.

So I ordered this. Just showed up now and immediately requested a refund. Open the package and not even touching it the first thing I see is hundreds of tiny scratches and fingerprints all over it.
Cheap material and poor unprofessional person that made the cut.
Back to looking for screen protector

Mine had a protective film on both sides of the protector that you are supposed to remove during/after installation.

I checked. One side no protection, other side had protection and I lifted a corner to verify the scratches were in the screen cover itself. Maybe the guy had a bad day? No clue, maybe it was a return that got recycled..no clue but good news is I don't need to waste my time dropping off at UPS. Amazon just returned money and told me to throw them out

I bought the RadTech and went 7" x 4.25".......it's perfect. It's been a pain getting out all of the air bubbles, but has otherwise worked great.

I bought one from Amazon. Have not put it on yet. I have no scratches but I don’t want to take any chances. Reading a lot of reviews on this issue.

I scratched my 2020’s instrument panel by rubbing dust/dirt off with my hand. Not very noticeable but there. From your post, sounds like all the display panels might have this problem!

0112B447-958B-46D5-89A1-DF0883F0B073.jpg Just added this screen today. So far looks nice. Everything works when you touch the screen. Don’t go by the instructions. It would have been easier just putting it on after cleaning the screen by holding the protector on the edges and installed it. But it still came out pretty good.

Well, had my screen replaced. Took awhile but the dealer that sold it to me took care of me. Thanks to South Toyota in Dallas, great service! Slapped a screen protector on it right away to prevent any scratches. These screens are apparently soft. Definitely a design flaw.

The screens in the Tacoma’s are hard plastic. The T4R screen is soft. I think they’re two different technologies. The Tacoma’s is like an iPhone surface (but plastic rather than glass).

The 4runner screen is like the first touch screen cell phones ever made. They rely on the upper surface making contact with a second surface below (so it actually “flexes” I think).

The difference in durability of these two types of touch screen surfaces is immense. So it surprised me when they recently increased the size of the T4R screen but didn’t opt for the more durable surface. The advantage to the type in the T4R is that it’s not shiny, so no glare or reflections.

I’m far from an expert on this stuff, but that’s my observation.

I can’t speak to what you said (could be spot on), but I’ve had other vehicles with matte finish’s on the screen and no issues. My old mustang GT350 and my current Porsche 718 have the same matte type screen and no scratching issues. I actually prefer the matte finish due to less glare.
