Rear shock replacement with OME springs

Looking for recommendations for replacement rear shocks for my gf's 2015 4runner. The 4runner has bilstein 5100's in the front with OME springs which I think gives 3" of lift? The rear also has OME springs which I think gives 2-3" of lift? When she first got the lift, 5100's were installed in the rear, but she was getting a clunking noise which I assume was because the 5100's didnt have enough travel for the OME springs and lift size. She current has Toytec boss shocks in the rear, but while doing a brake job the other day, I noticed one shock was leaking, so im looking to replace both rears. Looking at Icon 56505 2.0 good for 1-3" of lift or the Fox-980-24-679 2.0 IFP, good for 2-3" of lift as possible replacements. Need to know if either of these will be suitable for OME springs with the amount of lift, or other suggestions of shocks that will work.

 

I have OME springs, and ICON. Can you start by taking a photo of the spring (sometime's there's a tag still on em), or maybe photo of receipt. If you know the model# of the coils google will tell you it's free height, thickness, and spring rate. Then google and compare to the shock absorber specs !

 

Yea, i did see a tag on the spring, so Ill grab a picture. I should have taken the shock out when I was in there to measure it and find a shock that matches. The ones toytec makes now are not the same ones that are on the runner now, they have a sticker that says "BOSS" in big red letters, so thats why i was looking to go for a different brand that will work with the lift.

 

Sure thing, I hear ya good idea. My springs have moved on to a new model# as well, but it's possible to find the old and new #'s but an identical spring. Goodluck

 

So looking and the invoice from the lift and sticker on the spring its an OME 2889(sticker say 889x) from what i read they are medium duty coil with around 3" of lift.
These are the toytec shocks in the rear that im looking to replace. Cant find too much info on them. (Toytec TT-75109)

 

Thanks dude, so some sites have said medium duty, some have said light duty for me. I think I can help a little more. I actually have OME 2884 front springs.
Regarding 2889 rear springs, OME have about the highest spring rates out there for our trucks. The 2889's are 260lbs/in, stock is closer to 200 lb/in, so you are looking at a 30% increase. Those will also give you a 3" lift in the rear.
Your rear shock length might be okay though. The 5100s are 2" lift rated but are are just .25" shorter than the OME nitrochargers (60080), so should be able to fit OME coils?

 

Furthermore, I have a 3/2 lift
3" front
2" rear
I little bit of added weight, medium load when loaded. But I run stock load springs since its my wife's daily still, untill I get steel bumpers.

Important to know what's your armor, and rear constant weight?
Also what model# are your front springs, OME-884X, 885X, 886X?

 

So the front springs are ome 2884 with bilstein 5100. The 4runner is not carrying any extra weight, my gf uses it as a daily driver and we will use it to go to her uncles ranch and off roading to the beach.

Just trying to make sure that the rear shocks i choose will be sufficient for the amount of lift in the rear. May even go with the toytec aluma 2.0 which says is good for 1-3" of lift and looks to be a newer version of the shocks already on the truck

 

Right, I have the exact same setup in the front. Set on 0" stock spring seat groove.

Toytec aluma 2.0 1-3" lift; or as you mentioned Icon 56505 2.0 1-3" lift, or Fox 980-24-679 2.0 IFP 2-3" lift are a great idea. Just read the fine print and multiple website same SKU!

What did you go with? I just ordered 5100 with OME 2883 springs. After I ordered I decided to look under the truck and saw that I have OME 889x rear coil and 885x front. I bought the car used and didn’t realize it had a lift. Now I’m worried that the 5100 with OME 2884 front will have too much rake.
