Do snorkels help with MPG? Do they serve as pseudo cold air intakes?

He doesn't stall. The water isn't that deep. It always looks deeper when you're pushing it, or it's pushing you.

Doesn't necessarily have to stall right after the water crossing.

I own a Can-am Defender UTV. Many people in the south use these as swamp buggies, with snorkels and tall mud tires. Those help them get through the deep water and mud. But later they all suffer as the water intrusion into the electrical system causes shorts and corrosion.

Factory system will an upgraded tube and filter is as good as cold air intakes. I wondered about the snorkel also since it's being crammed with cold air. Regardless most power is only from dyno results at 5600rpm. I don't drive there there enough to feel it. I know it feels a little more responsive, but I think it's my ears fooling my foot into believing it's running better.

Can someone who actually knows tell me how deep in water a 4R can drive if it's a smooth crossing, no current and the driver is going very, very slowly?
I ask because I've never been able to figure out how a snorkel helps in water. I would certainly not want to drive my 4R in water over the floor boards. Is there a depth of water where a snorkel actually helps?

Soo, would this crossing be possible without snorkel if going slower, or would the engine hydro lock. I once saw a slammed civic with air intake low to the ground hydro lock in a large puddle after rain. Just curious.

Any cold air intake is a noise maker only, they provide zero performance benefits. Just money wasters

Why do they have Marines on board ships?

    Because sheep are too conspicuous!

Runner4Dan has this as first hand experience with back door action. Just remind me I wouldn’t want to be your rack mate. :duel:
