It’s weird, it’s like you don’t understand what an assumption is…

We’re nearing summer here in Denver, a place that gets 300 days of sunshine a year. Statistically, it should be a nice day tomorrow. It’s logical to assume that it will be nice out tomorrow. The fact that a random cold stormy day could happen doesn’t make that an assumption illogical.

Without trying to come up with every possible way your vehicle could get damaged and then cross referencing each way to your individual policy, it would be logical to assume your vehicle’s comprehensive insurance would cover comprehensive damage, like it typically does.

Making an assumption doesn’t make it fact, it just makes it surprising when, for whatever reason, it’s wrong.

Talking down to people when their logically formed assumption is wrong doesn’t make you (you as a general term, not you specifically) look right, it just makes you look like an insufferable person who lacks empathy.

I cannot speak for OP's locality but here in Alberta, Canada, Comprehensive is defined in the insurance act as the following "SUBSECTION 3 – COMPREHENSIVE from any peril other than by collision with another object or by upset.".

This is subject to certain exclusions, but there is no exclusion for damage caused by insects, pests or vermin as there is under most home insurance policies. Comprehensive coverage is more important than many people would believe it to be.

Like this, "an ounce of reading comprehension would reveal I didn’t say it was…" right?

If you were an adjuster please let me know what company so I can avoid if I ever change. That is plain fn lazy if I need to make calls. Thats not what I pay for. I'm not sure how going after the other insurance on my own is financially better for me. It will make me do more work for something I shouldn't need to.

I T-Boned a Jeep last year in my Tundra because they decided it was ok to turn right from the left shoulder right in front of me.

I took my truck in to the shop so they could get the estimate to State Farm.
State Farm ok'd it not being totaled and in the shop it went.
To pick up my truck all I paid was my deductible

    State Farm
    - Paid the shop the balance
    - Went after the other drivers insurance for reimbursement.

I spent a total of 5 min of my personal time on the phone letting them know what happened. And It was handled.

Hell the other insurance also tried to low ball me on my tow reimbursement when I had a receipt. I sent it to my agent and they told um to pound sand and send for the full amount.

Way to make it personal, ok.

The only difference between your story and mine is you paid your deductible instead of not paying a deductible.

He said full coverage but that may not mean comprehensive included to some.

I had been getting lazy about maintaining the bait stations I have out in the garage, but after reading this I immediately went out and re-stocked them!

Our son and daughter-in-law just had a wiring issue with their Silverado, different insurance company than OP, plus an extended warranty. Neither insurance covered the wiring problem. In their case it only cost 2 hrs shop time and a few shop supplies. 5400 is insanity at it's finest.

@Toy4X4, sucks, but contrary to what's been posted in this thread, a covered "loss" (as defined in the policy document(s) by many insurers) requires it to be "sudden" and "accidental" damage to a covered vehicle.

Under most insurance polices, damage, to a wiring harness by rodents, is not a covered loss, as it is not "sudden" nor "accidental". Many extended warranties don't apply to certain electronics, especially control modules (may not apply to your daughter-in-law's situation, but they are typically excluded) and almost always won't cover damage by rodents.

The Silverado was a victim of the dreaded 'wiring rub'. Pretty much as you described in your post is how it went.

That might be your experience, but more than one member in various threads will disagree with you, as they got theirs fixed and insurance covered it:

    Ok???

You can see I was responding to someone in particular, specifically, who had that experience.

Not disagreeing with you, just pointing out there are some insurance companies who will cover it.
