I am going to be adding a secondary battery to my 4R to power a accessories, such a refrigerator, air compressor, etc. My question is, Would it be better to wire the winch to the secondary battery, or should it be wired to the primary battery?

Are you upgrading the charging system to maintain both batteries?

My winch I have connected to my primary. In the event that the batteries isolate while winching, I don’t want the draw from the winch to impact other accessories or for the winch to start fading as the battery drains. I also want it to be maintained/assisted by the alternator. That, and also keeps the winch leads shorter (my second battery is on passenger side near firewall).

The primary battery will be charged by the alternator. The secondary battery will be charged by a redarc dc to dc charger. Based on further reading, the best option is to wire the winch to the primary battery.
