I think it would a better idea to put people that are not able to drive a big truck into a smart car.
I don’t see enough benefit in it to make the extra costs in the first place and maintenance worth it

Holy fuck! They can't even make a reliable truck with 2 wheel steering!

That looks like a lot of extra parts to break on the trails.o_O

Hahaha very true. As a Ford owner I don't think I would buy another one. Unless it was a brand new powerstroke or an old bronco. And driving anything 4 wheel steer is awkward as shit!

To answer the question- I sure hope not!

I like owning a vehicle where the appeal is simplicity, longevity, and reliability. I hope Toyota doesn't screw it up by trying to sell the 4runner to the masses with stupid gimmicks.

To be fair, my brother has an F150 with the 3.5 turbo, and I think it's an excellent truck. I HOPE it continues to run well for him.

Those are pretty sweet pickups. I test drove one before I bought my excursion and it was a blast to drive. I've never owned a half ton pickup, figure if I'm getting a full-size it's either going to be a 3/4 or 1 ton.

It’s not just the prelude, there are many more, even Toyota put it in the Lexus GS.
But again I don’t see any need for it except for some semi and specially trucks.

Why all the hype about tech that's over two decades old? This system was also on the by now ancient Bronco concept from 2003 i think it was. I would like to have it in my TuRD, the current turn radius is way larger then it needs to be.

The turn radius on mine is fine. I'd rather not add a bunch of unnecessary moving parts. It's really not needed in such a small vehicle.

I've owned 3 generations of 4runners and never once thought the turning radius was too big.

As @Matze said, let people who can't drive it buy a smaller car.

Put it on something that wouldn't be used for off roading, like the Highlander.

Coming from a FSB, the turn radius feels pretty large. Even if Edmunds (if you trust that kind of thing) only lists it as about 2 feet larger.

    What is an FSB?

I doubt that it would happen. Or, at least I hope not. Personally, I think the lack of bells and whistles is part of the 4runner's charm. And, probably part of the reason they're one of the most dependable vehicles available.

Ford twin I beams generally take about 9 miles to turn around. I haven't driven a new 4runner but would think it would have a far better turning radius than a bronco. Twin I beam is the second worse thing Ford has ever made. First being the new broncos.

Somewhat off topic. Again, without seeing one in person; I think Ford looked @ the FJ when building the new Bronco. It does have removable doors & roof so that says something about how the interior MUST be built...
I want the new Broncos to kick ass but they are a Ford. EcoBoost anyone...
I will say they are the only one of the big 3 that didn't take government money (maybe because they have so many government contracts for vehicles they didn't need it. Lol)

Your opinion is noted and means nothing to me. I will one day rebuild a Bronco and toss the TuRD to the curb. I have driven both. One for almost 30 years and one (granted not the same one) in three different countries around the world, plus these United states. Still i say the Bronco is a better choice for me. No nanny state electronics being top of the list along with no needed trophy racks with seat belts and extra doors. I'm glad you enjoy your 4runner and i'm truly happy for you, but for me its just a stop gap, commuter. There's good and bad in everything, but i would still love the duel axle steering (even in a Bronco) and would gladly trade my rear wiper and infotainment system along with the minivan seating for it. But hey, thats me. Oh. My Bronco turned far better then the TuRD from my experience, maybe it was the 5" shorter wheel base. Lol.

Turning radius on a 5th gen being better then a 96 Bronco. It has not been my experience. Granted its not leaps and bounds, but i have never done so many three point turns since owning the TuRD.
