Will 265/70r17 tires work on a 2012 Limited?

I bought some 17in wheels for my 4runner, just some basic black wheels so I would be able to put some all terrain tires on it. The issue is when I bought tires from costco, (firestone destination x/t, 265/70r17) they told me these tires wont fit and will rub. I did my research before buying, I found that non-limited models use 265/70r17 tires with 17in rims, so that's what I got, and now I'm really confused on why the tec at costco told me they wont work as that's the stock size for 4runners with 17in rims. Should I just take the tires and go somewhere else to get them installed? Or should I just return them and start over? Any help is appreciated.
