I’ve never posted here, mainly because I linger on the Tundra page because that’s my truck, but my wife has a 17 4runner so I joined here also to keep up with her rig too. Anywho, she got side swiped this morning by a guy who fell asleep at the wheel and I was wondering about what extra damage not immediately visible I might look for? Particularly with the mirror harness being pulled out so far!!!

Was she ok? Did you guys report the driver?

I'll let someone with more knowledge answer your question about hidden damage....

    That guy hit everything

you planning on running this through insurance? Curious to see if that running board bent or if it did damage where it mounts to the cab.

She is fine....driver drove down the road, turned on another highway briefly, turned into a parking lot and came back. Cops showed up and all info exchanged so should all go smooth. He had just gotten off a 14hr shift and fell asleep. It was on a 5 lane right in the middle of town so it could have been much worse than swiping her vehicle

Yes it’ll be covered. Good question....I’ll have to dive under it and look closer

when hunting for a shop we asked our insurance agent where he sends his personal vehicles as he has some pretty nice ones, turned out to be a fantastic shop. Good luck on the repairs hope it all goes quickly and glad to hear your wife was all good.

:canada:Sorry to hear about your accident, but pleased that your wife was not injured. It could have been a lot worse! Betty does most of our town and city driving and I'd be some p.o.'d if she was sideswiped by a sleepy driver. Good luck with the repair work and don't settle for less than perfect. - Cheers, Ted

I'm glad your wife is ok.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to know what all is not perfectly straight anymore until the work is already done, if they only replaced the mirror and fixed the door.

Hopefully, they'll replace the whole driver-side door for you.

    None...yet...
I think the underside of the cab where the running boards mount would be a concern and if the rear wheel was hit with anything hard enough to damage frame, suspension, or axle would be my biggest concern.
