    Bob,

North Carolina. The land is an old Christmas tree farm and still can smell it in the breeze.

70 this year. I've had every generation of Toyota truck from 1988 to 2013 except the T100 & Tundra. I think once I had the smaller trucks I could never go full size again. Sold my last (after 30 years) Jeep & 2013 Tacoma to buy this 2019 (best of the best :D) 4Runner, should be it. Never interested in a 3rd gen Tacoma, and the posts on the 4th gen Taco thread are scary, and don't bode well for the 6th gen 4Runner.

Still doing maintenance on it, wish I could stop, but I hate 18 year old "techs" screwing up my 4R.

Still enjoying working. Wife & I are both on Medicare & SS - just socking that away for later. Still living in the house we built 42 years ago, but would like to downsize.

    Enjoying reading all the posts...

Good for you, I'm age 71. My new (3 months old) 4Runner is my 7th "Truck" in my lifetime. Fords, Nissan, Toyota. I sold my 06 Tacoma TRD Quad Cab to purchase the 4Runner which I have wanted for years.
I tell myself how smart that move was almost everyday. I don't do my own maintenance anymore, for the next few years that's covered under my warranty. Hell, I can't fit under the 4Runner anyway!

Hello all. I'm glad this thread got resurrected as I was about to do it myself.

I need the help of my fellow old farts to set me straight. I've been on this forum for just over a month and already find myself falling victim to the dreaded "Forum Syndrome". You know, the one where you start looking at and being interested in frivolous stuff like emblem blackout overlays and replacement dash speakers and logo valve stem caps. Overlays for cryin' out loud!!!

I knew when I got the truck I just wanted X, Y, and Z and that's it. I'm getting distracted but have not yet succumbed thank goodness.
I guess the first step is admitting...

Sorry about the delay, been fighting Vertigo for a while now. I’m sure by now your surgery is over and experiencing the same results as I. The next day after the surgery I took off my eye patch and said to the wife, “I didn’t know the walls in our house are white”, she said “why, what color did you think the were”. I said “light brown, then I looked out the window and saw how beautiful the trees and grass are, I should have done this 10 years ago”.

At 67, I still do the same thing as I did at 17. I’ve only owned performance cars and 4WD trucks/suv’s. I’ve never been practical when it comes to vehicles. If you are a car/truck guy it never goes out of your blood completely.

It's a losing battle, I'm afraid (see under my user name). I did, however, swear to never fall for the blackout nonsense. Hold strong...

Mine is coming up (Right eye) in about 10 days; then two weeks after for the left eye.

RE the Vertigo: Are you on diuretics? I found I was having an electrolyte imbalance. Started drinking sports drinks (normal Gatorade has lots of sugar). I'm drinking Powerade Zero (0 calories) or Gatorade Fit (10 cal).

Doing GREAT right now! Dr. put me on Ozempic for my diabetes (Saves over $1000/mo. that way because insurance will cover it). I have lost almost 30 pounds since June. (Part of my diuretic issue, I'm sure). Looking forward to what my A1c will be. My cardiologist almost danced when I told him about going on Ozempic. Last two 6 mo. cardiology visits (plus an echo-sound) were clear; extraction still @ 65-70% (slightly above normal)-that's the blood pumped with each contraction.

No diuretics, been fighting Vertigo for 10 years now. Been to several ENT’s and hearing tests to determine the cause, no luck. Doctors always ask if I have ever been hit on the head, I tell them that I’ve been knocked out cold twice in my life, once during a freshman football game (1969) and once in a motorcycle accident (1975). He said that was too long ago to matter. Will take your advice on drinking some electrolytes though, due to the Vertigo generally coming on if I’m dehydrated. Good luck with the Cataract surgery, it’s painless and only takes 20 minutes, the benefit is astounding!

We've ALL been there, no matter what our age. We come into this world pooping ourselves, and we exit this world the same way. We have to make light of these things.

    Fizz
    Fuzz

    Rip
    Tear Ass

I heard a slightly different version of this when I was in middle school - many years ago:
    The Fizz
    The Fazz
    The Fizz-Fazz
    The Rip Shit
    The Tear Ass
and the one that goes WHOOSH!

Well this old fart went back to work today. It's kind of an odd feeling but I'm sort of ambivalent about it. I don't need to go back and I've been happy enough retired but on the other hand it's a nice opportunity and my wife can't retire for another 2 years anyways. So what the heck, extra ca$h. But I will miss running errands when nothing is crowded.

Not federal govt at least, right? Back into my previous role in healthcare with a different organization. Actually, it is tribal government and they went through some sort of legal process about 10 years ago to be their own independent organization completely separate from IHS. So... We shall see. It seems very upbeat and promising.

That's cool, I know people from tribes in SW. Giving back after so much that has been taken is noble. I wish you the best of luck and hope you make a positive impact
