You want some juice....nitrous is just a bottle away. Not that I would build a 4Runner for speed, it's pretty much a moving brick.

Pedal Commander or Sprint Booster. I have a Pedal Commander and would not want to be without.

As mentioned, the best bet to improve responsiveness (if you feel it is needed) is likely to get a pedal commander or sprint booster. I have not used either, nor plan to. If you're looking for a fast car, the 4runner just isn't it ;)

If by performance you mean quicker, the best bet is to sell the thing and start with something that has at least a glimmer of hope for remotely approaching “performance”.

Welcome from Wisconsin! Think more air flow; intake, injector upgrade, aftermarket headers/exhaust. "Seat time" is a good thing.

1st ...Howdy from TEXAS congrats on your new ride!
2nd...yeah no. There isn't really anything that'll work short from flashing the ECM
But like some had mentioned, a throttle response plug-n-play will give you some zip. As for regear...well...do that when you add real weight (not tires and wheels)

Welcome from Arizona. Congrats on the new 4Runner.

What are you trying to do with your rig?
Baha type racing through the desert, off-road craziness, or are you trying to be faster on the street?

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
Driving my 4Runner has taught me that when it comes to speed: No. Don't drive this thing fast. It's a gigantic heavy brick. It handles like a big stone slab used to build the pyramids, and it stops like one. Slow down and enjoy cruising. When the weather's nice roll down the windows (especially the rear window), rest your elbow outside the truck, and take it all in.

    Welcome from Vancouver, BC!

Performance wise? If you mean performance on trails/ offroad, a set of all terrain tires or Mud tires will provide you significant boost in performance offroad. With this truck, you have to remember the saying "you can go fast but I can go anywhere" and go from there.

Should have bought a Ram TRX.... just saying... the 4Runner will never be Speed Racers Mach Five.

I would skip the Pedal Commander and hope for a supercharger and/or HPTuner support in the near future. There is already some unofficial 4Runner compatibility with HPTuners, but you'd have to research what years/models.

I have a friend who went from an automatic 2008 Yaris to a 5th gen 4R, and she said "I love everything about the 4Runner, except that it's so slow!" That about sums it up.

Also, considering it can barely get out of it's own way stock, it's all downhill from here, as every mod that people commonly do will make it even slower.

There must be a defect out there... when I smash the right pedal it get's up and goes. Is it a Ferrari? No, never; however, this being a 4Runner... it isn't slow for what it is.. it is.... a 4Runner.
