I just bought a 2011 Limited. The suspension rides rough and I suspect the X-REAS is shot. I want to place X-REAS with conventional shocks/struts. Can anyone give me specific make/models that work? I drive about 70% on-road/30% off-road.

Literally any set of normal non X-REAS shocks for a 5th gen 4Runner will work as long as you replace all 4 of the old ones together - meaning you can’t just do the fronts now and rears later or anything like that.

You can replace it with any non xreas setup. With that, you can choose to lift it or keep it stock height. The xreas was $4k to replace, replaced mine with Oem TRD pro suspension from 2018.

I have a 2013 Limited and two of my shocks were leaking so I had the whole system removed and replaced them with a set of 4 Bilstein 5100's shocks/struts. Rides really smooth and the front is adjustable meaning you can raise your front up 2.5 if you choose to go that route and the rear will accommodate a lift of 0-2"(rears are not adjustable, only the fronts)

Dookie316. How is the ride with the 5100's? I'd like to firm up the ride a bit and eliminate some of the brake dive on my 2018 Limited. (BTW I had great results with Bilsteins on my 2003 4th Gen.) Thanks.

The ride is almost the same as the Xreas system. A more comfortable ride imo to me and a bit stiffer. Absorbs a lot of the bumps in the road and reduced the "nose dive" effect a lot. I definitely recommend them for the casual offroader and mostly daily for sure.
