It’s funny, I was just watching the latest episode of Grand Tour. It was on french cars…but of course the guys are all about poking fun at the culture (with admiration).

Interesting to watch. The way it was presented on the show, it seems the French are pretty feisty when it comes to government over-reach, and big-business decisions that affect the populace…. Bad decisions seem to often result in a swift response, such as general strikes, mass destruction of government property, and even murder of head honchos.

Seems like the French revolution still holds a special place in the hearts of the French

Used car prices keep going up. Revolting against government? Not over vehicles. Food and taxes I can see. Instead I'll tell you want congress critters staff really hate and gets their attention. Snail Mail and tons of it. Emails get deleted.

It’s not the vehicle that's the issue. It’s about taking our Freeeeedom!

Seriously, mandating cameras and remote vehicle control is the same as (but worse than) having officers at every corner asking to see our “papers”

I am getting prepared to place an order for the 2022 model. I got some raise at my job, and my little sister got a Phd scholarship in France. They pay her too. Together we are more than enough for our parents. Less responsiblity on me now :):D

Hold on to your guns and piles of ammunition. Don't be like 40 million Afghans getting run over by 70,000 Taliban terrorists.
America is the land of freedom and opportunity, as well as the land of GUNS. Teach your kids how to shoot guns, train them :infantry:

There are already 2018s that are pushing the 4 year mark, those bought at the end of 2017.

Yes and it is Not going to happen to the 2018 and 2019 model years simply because they all have been saved by the decision from ATT and the other cellular networks to push the 3G network into the Back pages of history and the 2018 and 2019 connectivity runs on 3G .... Ooops we just opened another can of worms that means other features that depend on the 3G are going to Cease working?

Interesting topic. You are Forced to pay taxes on the money you worked for, some part of those taxes goes to road maintenance, driving on roads is a privilege according to the government, but is ok if walking on them. If you don't pay taxes you get put in a cage sometimes.

For ICs I'm sure someone will find work arounds, censorship on the workarounds may be a thing on the several media platforms, but again "you can't stop the signal." For EVs that TPTB seem to want I have no clue as it's mostly software controlled.

    Exciting times to live in.

Sounds like something one would experience in F******* , G****** ! Some experiences are best left alone !

Smile & Nod ( watch The Terminal with Tom Hanks )

The movie was inspired by the story of Merhan Nasseri, an Iranian refugee. In 1988, he landed at Charles De Gaulle Airport near Paris, after being denied entry into England, because his passport and United Nations refugee certificate had been stolen. French authorities wouldn't let him leave the airport. He remained in Terminal One, a stateless person with nowhere else to go. He has since been granted permission to either enter France or return to Iran. He chooses to continue to live in the terminal and tell his story to those who will listen. Reportedly, his mental health has deteriorated over the years. When given the opportunity to live in France, he refused because the documents did not name him as "Sir Alfred", and he claims to have forgotten his native Persian. Reportedly, he left the terminal in August 2006 to be hospitalized for an unspecified illness. DreamWorks reportedly paid him $250,000 for the use of his biography.

And this is why it pays to get the information out there even if it is NOT 100% correct at time is a loud angry mob screamed back at The Auto Manufacture and made them back pedal to get their hands off "Our" remotes functions and "See" that they are on the wrong path.

Thankfully, my brother's F150 has a button to deactivate the feature. But, you must press it every time you start it. I just have a hard time imagining this feature saving a significant amount of fuel, aside from a situation where you get stuck in stop and go traffic for several hours.

yep! I disabled all of that on the ‘app’ when I bought my 22 4 runner, they want your vehicle to send data to them & also you to pay for the data package haha. No thanks.

It's bad enough waiting for people to get going at traffic lights because they're playing with their phones!
We don't need to be waiting for a row of vehicles to start on top of it. I don't know exactly how that system works, or how fast it activates, but I still think it's stupid.
Same sort of thing on my 3rd gen. Have always hated how the doors automatically lock when put in drive. Also, how my sunroof stops half way through opening and closing. Have to press it a second time to open all the way or close all the way. I guess Toyota knows what's best for me....not!
By the way, I hate anti-lock brakes also. Almost got me killed a couple times. Let me control my vehicle please!

I was behind a new silverado in a drive through the other day, I laughed when I heard it start and stop 3 times once at the speaker and once at each window, if you buy a truck nobody should expect more then 14 mpg, and it should be made that way. The Chevy afm system is a disaster, add auto start stop can’t imagine the issues to come.

If the auto start/stop feature is implemented in the 6th Gen, and if there’s a disable-at-startup button, someone will develop a mod to automatically disable without driver input.

While you could get a V8 in a GX, you can’t get 4wd and a locking rear diff. Two different vehicles for two different markets. Having said that, I would prefer a v6 with more torque. I don’t want a 4 cyl with turbos. Turbos go bad and are expensive to replace. A v8 would be nice, but it will never happen with EPA regs getting tougher every year.

It is proven, the Toyota V8 is a bad option!
