Took advantage of a free weekend and cooler weather (relatively speaking) to go dispersed camping with Max. After researching, we headed to Southern California’s Forest Rd 2N93/Wildhorse Meadow Rd near Big Bear Lake.

Starting from the north side, the trip was smooth until we encountered a broken-down truck blocking the narrow trail. There was no way to pass, so we turned back and tried the south entrance, which was rougher but passable. About 4.5 miles in, a fallen tree blocked our way, so we turned around and camped at a large pull-off area a mile back.

We tested sleeping in the 4Runner instead of using a tent. It worked fairly well, though space was tight with Max. At 5'10", I could barely lay flat. If I removed the rear seat bottoms, it would give me more room to sleep more comfortably. We tried the stretchy window screens which worked great for ventilation while keeping out the bugs.

Though not the trip we originally planned, it turned out to be a fun adventure.

Side note: I used my Milwaukee M18 inflator to refill the tires twice after deflating them before hitting the trail. From 20lbs to 36lbs, it was about 3 minutes per tire. A full XC6.0 battery still had 1-2 bars left (it was at 1 bar after the last tire, but was showing 2 bars when I got home).

Might be time to look for a deal on the M18 chainsaw. Would have come in handy tackling that tree in the way.
