Did you use the driver tool from them? It has a lip on it and I think it bottoms out before you can drive it too far in. Any noises in 4wheel drive or 4lo? If it’s quiet, then I would guess your good to go.

    Didn't test 4wheel.
Didn't notice any lip on the tool from them. It wasn't bottoming out like I expected

Is there anything I can look at on the cv insertion to tell if it's set

There’s a few videos on the installation on youtube, Ill see if I can find one that shows the lip on the tool and how far the bushing should go in.

Then if you want to double check it, my guess is the CV has to come back out. Or maybe you can risk taking the seal off, looking, and somehow getting the seal back on without a driver. I don’t know if there is a trick for that though.

If the bushing goes in too far, in can interfere with the gears. So if you cant get the doubt out of your head, the. i guess you’ll have to go back in. On the bright side, you’ll become an expert at it ;)

Full disclosure, I havent done mine, but I bought one and thought anout it lol. Maybe somebody that does this more can chime in with other ideas.

Fast forward to 11:50 to where you can see how deep he installs it.

This pic is from the vid and shows the lip/shoulder on the tool. I dont think you can overdrive it if you used the tool. Unless you really hammered on it hard. Look at your tool to see if you see any evidence the shoulder/lip contacted the case. Hopefully it wasnt deformed

So definitely longer. I found some people saying flush others saying a definite lip. Wonder if it's different between models since I'm sure the carrier is different but the bushing is the same

Im not sure Im clear on what you mean.

Does your bushing driver tool look the same as the one in the video I linked? I think the mistake you want to avoid is going deeper than flush, which is what I initially thought you were concerned about. I dont think flush is a problem, I dont think if it’s sticks out a bit is a problem.

If you are worried that it’s too deep., you could also lift the front, put it in 4wd, and turn the tires by hand. If anything crashes together inside the diff, at least you’d feel it before it does damage

Tool was the same... Definitely had at least a 16th sticking out but pretty sure we couldn't go any further. Tool didn't bottom out. I would have to gone past the inner lip for the outside to be flush

I don't know what to think when we got done my first thought was I may have gone to deep now hearing guys say that there's were flush on the outside edge makes me question myself because I definitely had at least a 16th sticking out but did not feel like it would go any further..., LOL

If it were me, I would do a test spin of the diff by hand turning it, including while in 4wd. Then I would not worry about damaging the diff.

If it’s sticking out too far (doubt it), maybe it would prevent the seal from seating correctly and you might get a leak.

But honestly, you could give ECGS a call to run your concerns by them. I had some questions for them and they were very helpful.

I wouldnt in this situation since it’s sticking out a 16th. But if I was worried about it as you are (not judging, I get worried about my own possible mistakes), I would want to lift it up and turn it by hand to make sure nothing was contacting the bushing. Id do it in 2wd, and 4wd, because I go over the top when I doubting/worried about something lol;)

But I would also call ecgs.

Flush per instructions achieves best fit while eliminating axle slop. I have mine installed flush for many years now.

Yeah I'm going to call ECGs on Monday but actually found something from them late last night that said in some instances it may stick out up to an eighth of an inch I guess not all the carriers are the same depending on what Toyota used

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
I went through the elevation changes on my way west towards Lancaster, PA yesterday. It got high enough in a couple spots that my ears were feeling the change in elevation. My 4Runner spends nearly all of its time close to sea level, and this is my first time experiencing such elevation changes with my 4Runner. It was interesting how pronounced the difference in responsiveness of the engine felt while driving. I don't remember my old Jeep feeling like that in PA.

For me, it was night and day. The Ironman’s were a great intro I feel like. Kings just feels great, and I like the adjustability.

I felt that same way with the Ironman vs. stock. I can’t imagine what it must feel like going up to Kings.

Gear hunting....searching and not knowing if it needs to move higher or down according to throttle etc....I know it's a bit annoying but it is an SUV afterall..and not some sedan. You might benefit from a tunning from one of the vendors that do this stuff. It would definitely make a difference. They have them here on the forum advertising their tunning services.

No tunes for the 2020! Not unless you're getting a supercharger. I don't know if it was the hills themselves as much as it was the elevation, though. I've been up and down hills in NJ, and it's okay. But things get pretty high in PA.

Really, it was fine. It was just that I was experiencing it in the elevation.
