Finally got my RSG Rock Sliders installed. I absolutely love them. Bolted on super quick and easy.

    Looks phenomenal.
Odd question, why no fill plate option? I love the RSG sliders but this year isn't a good one for us. Also, why angled? Do you do a lot of crawling or just like the looks better?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

Nice move ... do you enjoy up north better ? Interested in a fellow SoCal opinions on the differences.

I personally like the angled better. Makes for a sleeker look since they don’t stick out as far.
I had some with fill plates on my Tacoma and some without on a different Tacoma.. if I add them to the runner I’d go without.
I didn’t find I stepped on them much with or without the plates unless I was washing the roof and at that point it didn’t matter.

I think with the snow/ice we get here in the winter I would feel much better having my wife step on a fill plate over a bar.
I now agree, angled does look better. It matches the truck better in my eyes.

Guess it’s hit and miss. one could be beneficial here and the other more so there lol
We don’t have much for snow and ice here so it’s not at all an issue

I really like it up here. I lived in SoCal almost all of my 41 years. I had enough. Tired of the traffic and the crowds mainly but it's also changed a lot in the last 20 years.

It's still busy up here, but there's more open space. You can find spots where you're all alone if you want.

I have forest, beach, and mountains all close to one another so there are a lot of outdoor recreational activities to do.

First, I swapped out all interior lights to LED. Huge improvement.

Second, I swapped the front turn signals and marker lights To LED. Huge improvement.

Next, I installed the Sequential Turn Signals and Meso Puddle Lights. I watched the YouTube video beforehand and it seemed simple enough. The Meso Puddle Lights are super bright, however, the housings suck. The holes for the screws are not quite big enough so putting everything back together was a PITA. The driver’s side kinda kicked my ass but the passenger side was super easy just like in the video.

Next, I installed N-Fab step bars.

Next, I hooked up my Carista module to customize all of the settings and eliminate some of those annoying chimes.

Last (for today), I installed my Pedal Commander. I did not have time to take it out and test drive it to find the right setting but I will test it out the next time I drive it.

That’s all for today. Still MUCH more to do but I’ll work on it when/as I can.

I am a cheap bastard and with the angle ups I only step on the bar. Might have got plates if it was a flat one. I really like what I chose as well...no regrets at all.

I agree with above, i like the way the angled tuck in a bit, but i got the top plate hoping maybe they would block some of the stuff that gets thrown up, on and off road.

Indeed. 30 years myself in the LA/OC area .. was thinking Carlsbad/Vista area if going south or up above SF in Bodega Bay area.

Not too close to BG though lol

Haha! Bodega Bay is a funky little town. Cool spot though. Sonoma and San Francisco are close enough if you're missing civilization up there.

I grew up in San Clemente. Moved to Oceanside and worked in Vista for a few years before moving to Santa Cruz.

Vista has more of a rural vibe to it. It had a surprising amount of farmland, but still everything you need from a town. Carlsbad is a bit more vanilla, IMO. But I felt trapped in North County San Diego because so many people live there and travel to there. Every Friday for example, everyone from San Diego would head North on I-5 to get out of town, while everyone from LA and OC would be heading South to get into SD. On Sunday, everyone would go home. Both sides of the freeway jammed. Couldn't go anywhere all weekend.
    It was infuriating! :annoyed:

the plates are absolutely a plus for stopping debris from being thrown up. Can get caked up underneath but that’s no biggie.
When I had mine I was running mts and the plates stopped a lot of the little gravel bits from flinging you and scratching stuff

In a quest for better sound, few months ago, I applied sound deadener to all the doors. Then this weekend, after much reading, I installed 3 1/2" speakers in the dash, JBL GX328 with 300hz bass blockers. I wanted to get an idea of what this mod would sound like since a lot of people have commented about it. I have to say that the immediate observation is that it sounds much better than the original dash speakers. I think this mod will give me some time to determine if I need to upgrade the rest of the speakers and add a subwoofer with amps and dsp.

I am very happy with the stock audio system in my 2020 TRDOP after upgrading the dash speakers. Plenty of bass and mid range for my taste and dash speakers really cleaned up the brilliance of sounds and all highs.
Also, some folks upgrade to dash speakers not paying attention and end up with 3ohm speakers. This will make your dash speakers overpower the door speakers and you will hear a perceived lack of highs and lows. Because dash and door speakers are wired in parallel - try to stick with a 4ohm speaker and install a proper bass blocker.

Thanks for the advice on the 4ohm speaker. I have listened to a 4ohm in a 4runner's dash before and sounded bright, that speaker was a rockford fosgate. Which speaker are you using on the dash? Do these sound bright at all?

I ended up using those.... they’re a very tight fit - but doable, and paired up great with the stock system.
