20200624_175238.jpg 20200624_175415.jpg Didn't get a single pic of the process, because I had to do the whole install on the ground. I still have to get the gas skid on, I was waiting for the missing hardware to come from Artec and it just happened to come in the mail a couple hours ago, right as I was finishing up the rest of the package.

So far, I really like them. Great coverage, super fast lead times (even with more than two weeks of delay due to missing pieces) and they were much easier to deal with that I expected. Mind you, they really need to improve their communication skills, their instructions are videos that really don't help much, and they did send me the incorrect hardware to replace the missing hardware, before finally sending me the correct stuff... but damn, they do look pretty good, feel sturdy, offer a lot more coverage than most, and were cheaper than the equivalent competition (full set w/a-arm and gas skid, in aluminum) by several hundred dollars.
    Whatcha think?

Thanks! If you're in the market for skids, I do suggest you check them out. Even at their regular price they're a little cheaper than RCI's equivalent package, but they're a harder grade of aluminum, and of course have more of it. I think it's been just about a month since I first ordered, but I got almost everything within two weeks, free shipping.

Do I actually see a skid that has recessed screws/bolts for fasteners? Every manufacturer has been wrong in my eyes using protruding fasteners. If you use it they will deform and be useless.
Thanks for the info. Time to look again...

$2k... ouch. However, I may be sold!
You get what you pay for. I am pretty sure that main section covers everything but the A-arms. That is impressive. I wonder what the cost to coat is...

    They're still on sale, yes!
Guys, I just priced RCI and another set (can't remember which brands I pieced them from) and they were almost $500 more than the Artec full package. While it looks expensive piecemeal, the package has an in-cart discount with free shipping so I got mine for $1999.00 delivered. If all you need or want is a front skid, there are much cheaper options but if you want a gas skid and don't hate a-arm skids, then it's probably the best deal around.
The warranty is nice too, but I seriously doubt I'll use it or even need it. There aren't many areas that don't have some kind of bracing within maybe six inches.

I'm glad y'all like them, I was kinda hoping I wasn't the only one who thought they looked cool!

Yep, nearly all of the bolts are countersunk, except for the radiator support bolts which still have those smooth washer thingies on em.

    Very nice.

Where did you get the stereo and speakers from? Would you mind sharing what you paid for them?

How was the install? Take long?

I will start with install first....

Speakers in the doors and hatch are very easy. Took maybe about an hour for all 6. The idatalink maestro unit for the radio has to be programmed, and i had the radio and maestro unit installed by someone else. Took them roughly 2 hours. The subs and amp took me about 3 hours... But i wanted everything installed very clean looking and even removed the passenger seat completely to get it done. Pushing the power wire through the firewall wasnt fun. I ran it over to the passenger side then went though on that side since the amp was installed under passenger seat.

    Cost....

If you just mean the headunit and mids/highs, i got all of that from crutchfield. The headunit with maestro idatalink and maestro wiring harness, dash kit, dual usb plug and everything cost around $900. $650 for the radio alone without maestro. Speakers would be around $250 more for all doors and rear hatch. I had a gift card, reward points, and a military discount, so im just giving you the prices you would pay without all of that.

Subs and amp, Well.... I got those on a trade....

Did you have to destroy the stock speakers to mount the new ones or buy brackets? Or do the newer models not need adapters anymore? I put all new speakers in my ‘18 and it took way longer than an hour lol. Did you wire the dash tweeters into your coaxial 6x9’s?
Here’s a link to the adapters I’m referring to since the aftermarket speakers do not line up with factory mounting locations.

You’ll still either need adapters, or cut up the stock speakers to make your own. Some places like crutchfield include adapters for free when you buy the speakers from them.

Looks great, love how it matches the raptor lights and the fog light thingys.

Why/how did you make a custom wiring harness?? What's wrong with the supplied one?

I just installed my 40" rigid E-series the other weekend and was having trouble wiring it to the air on board OEM matching switch. I got it wired to the basic switch supplied by Rigid, but I was going to take it to a truck shop to get it wired to the air on board switch

I made it custom because I wanted all the wires to be the exact length they needed to be (to make for a clean install) and also wanted to utilize the custom fuse/relay I already had. Otherwise I would had to slice open the provided harness to try and pull out the wires to appropriate length, and mount the relay somewhere. The way I did it, I have all my fuses and relays in one place. Also I kind of like the preciseness of it all and enjoy the process.

I too installed an AOB switch to operate it. It’s really not that hard and I can help walk you through the steps to install if you would like me too. By now I’m super comfortable pulling the dash off. The clips Toyota uses are super friendly and it’s really easy to yank on it without fear after you’ve done it a few times. Also don’t let that previous sentence scare you, you only have to unscrew the kick panel and pull off the floorboard door trim piece in order to access the blank switch spots. Really the hardest part is running the trigger wire through the firewall grommet... You definitely need a wire puller and some lubricant to make the job easier.

I can explain and take pics of where each wire goes if you want to take a crack it. Also if you get the crimp on terminals that have the heat shrink, all you need is a heat gun, small wire stripper, and crimp tool.

Let me know if you want to take another crack at it and I’d be happy to help you along the way.

    Cheers!

Edit: it sounds like you already ran the wire and know how to access the blank switches since you installed the Rigid one. It should be pretty easy to walk you through installing the AOB one.

I bought all my speakers from crutchfield, they include brackets and wire harnesses for free with speakers. They worked great. Lined right up no issues. Stock speakers are still usable... If I actually had a need for them LOL.

I didn't do the dash tweets. Just the 6 speakers, 4 doors and 2 hatch.

About an hour... I wasn't timing it and wasn't in a hurry, but I only drank 2 beers during the install... Had it taken an hour and a half I would've at least drank 3 :D

I would have been hammered if I was drinking during my install put a 4 channel under the driver seat and a Lc7i line out converter under passenger.
Speakers are one of the most enjoyable mods.

I would definitely appreciate a walk through of the wiring and any expertise you have to offer! It will save me money on having the shop do it. (unfortunately I still intend on bringing my rig to the shop for them to wire my ARB dual compressor which seems like an even more complicated task)

Would it be easier for you to creat a new thread for this? This way other people would be able to benefit from your knowledge as well?
