What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Was it in a place you couldn't just plug it?
This kit has saved me on trips on both 2 and 4 wheels.

 

Dialed up the low speed adjusters another three clicks…

 

One of mine was fairly tight, the other took a good kick on the breaker bar to get started...

 

I could DIY it but I’d rather have the tire shop do a plug and patch. They owe me free flat repairs anyways. I’ll drop the tire off to then tomorrow.

Watched mine leave my work on a flatbed about an hour ago.
Went to go get lunch and 5 minutes out of my work parking lot, started shuddering, check engine light came on, traction control light on, limp mode maybe?!. Pulled over and still shuddering. Turned it off and back on and seemed a bit better until I flipped around to head back to the office and got under load, still acting up, got back, hooked up my scanner and misfire on cylinder 4 code p0304. I bought a warranty due to her age and mileage, so off to the Toyota dealership for diagnosis, so far the tow cost me $20, the rest goes to warranty, here is hoping it’s a bad coil pack when they diagnose it. Even if it’s worse my deductible is only $100 on the warranty. Gonna check in with the dealership and see if they can squeeze me in for a tranny flush and fill while they have it. But man very bummed seeing her on a tow truck.

 

Positive thoughts for your rig man, hope its an easy insurance covered fix.

Had you traveled through much standing water ? Only asking because I spend a lot of time in the Everglades. I travel through lots of water. Not up to the body but 2 1/2’ is normal. My truck sits up high though. I’m getting ready to start changing out fluids. Going to do it myself. Just one or 2 a month. Purchased a fluid pump. Just wondering if I should pre purchase the material to move my breather up higher

 

You know that’s so true. When you get ready. I mean really ready, to put something on. There is nothing like a raw metal bracket. Well, except maybe. A prepainted,or powder coated bracket.

What kind of sealer did you use on that truck. Dose it swell when it gets wet? Strange color. Haven’t seen that in Fl. Hope that black mat finish on the rack matches up with that natural wood finish.

I tried that a couple of months back and the patch popped off as I was injecting the resin. I could never get those things to work for me.

So good news, bad news, good news again.

Good news is my diagnosis was right and it was the coil pack on cylinder 4, nothing else.
Bad news is my warranty considers that a wearable item like the spark plugs. So now it’s all out of pocket.
Good news again, just gonna have the dealership go ahead and do a tranny service since I’m almost at 200k, and since they have the old girl while they do the coil pack and check the plug to make sure it’s still good, which I would think it’s okay since they have less than 15k on the plugs since changing.
So now it’s all over but my wallet crying and getting her back later this week.
