Probably not necessary to go all stainless in the interior cargo area, over zinc plated (which would look sleeker than galvanized), but whatever, yolo. To be honest, Sea-Dog at the marine store was the ONLY M6 shouldered eyebolt I found in my region, I looked all over the place..and it’s stainless, so.

Slowly making progress on rewiring…

 

Sometime back, I replaced the oem windshield wipers with some aftermarket version, and haven't been satisfied since. Although, the current ones on there are working without issue. I decided to order the oem blades that have the rubber inserts can be replaced, if for no other reason, to always know which ones to get when I need replacements instead of staring at all the options at the parts store. Got them at one of the two local dealerships. The other one wanted full retail. The price I paid is still less with tax than ordering from some online vendors and paying their exorbitant shipping cost.

 

^^^ This is what I did when they had online sales a few months ago, new inserts along with full replacement blades with inserts. To me the OEM wipers work great.

found the right 1/4” O ring grommets today and managed to sleeve on to the new stainless 5/16” bow shackles in cargo area.
that was so hard to do - one down one to go.
now the shackle pin can’t slide and rattle inside the eye bolt. brilliant.

Very easy. Less than a couple minutes per blade. I've been doing the replacement thing since 2015 on 2 different 4runners. Still happy with OEM. BTW you can get replacement refills for the rear wiper also.

 

Sure. BTW, they are in my city, so I just ordered them for local pickup. I'm sure they will ship also, but don't know that cost.

Ticked over 48k miles recently and decided to spring for a transmission fluid and power steering fluid drain/fill, throttle body cleaning, new engine air filter. (especially with more free time this evening)

I didn’t think through how I wanted to fill the transmission from the side so I cobbled together the shown “solution”.
Next time, I’m going to get a much wider tube and pair it with a funnel.

Throttle body definitely had some buildup but it’s not making me rush to get to the other similar-mileage Honda’s in the family. (eventually!)

 

conquered the o-ring grommet installation on both sides, completed the job. see photos. thanks for everyone’s advice along the way.

 

Have to admit the cargo area factory ceiling hooks aren’t very hooky.




At least the rear seats have pronounced hooks that can hold what goes in.
Typically I can’t hang clothes for special occasions in the rear row cuz my kids dirty grimey fingers dwell there!

 

303 Protectant is a good UV blocker. Wipe down the lenses with it after every wash or rain and it'll help keep the degradation in check now that the factory coating is gone.

 

Does anyone have the part numbers for the 20" and 24" inserts? (Not the whole wiper assembly, just the rubbber)
