Here's what I got done this week with this center cap project.

Sanded back down and put some spot and glazing putty on
    20190318_194017.jpg

    re-primed and painted
    20190319_203537.jpg 20190320_190901.jpg
    clear coat
    20190323_192753.jpg
I put three light coats of clear on and one heavier coat. Will wet sand with 2000 grit Sunday and Monday I may throw down one final heavy coat of clear and wet sand one more time on Tuesday. Then I'll let them cure for about a week or so inside before I get my wheels put on. Here's sort of a quick peek of how the whole center cap now looks.

Also started the badging overlay project since they were waiting for me when I got home from work on Friday. Can anyone guess what color I chose to paint them? :headbang:

Still need to wet sand them and then clear and wet sand again but I could help but get a quick peek of what they will look like on the rig.

I think I am going to sit on my ass the rest of the night.

    Quick rundown:

    Scuff sanded with 200 grit
Cleaned with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and q-tip.
Two coats of Rustoleum adhesion promoter that works with plastic - quick light coat then heavy coat about 8 minutes later or so.
Within 10 minutes I started three coats of Rustoleum 2X primer sealer that works with plastic. (First quick, second 8 minutes later heavier, third about 30 minutes later after I knocked down some imperfections with 1000 grit wet sand paper).
Waited 30 minutes then did one quick light coat of base coat.
Came back about 10 minutes later and put down a heavier wet coat as the paint is thin and it was the only way to get good flow.
Waited about 15 minutes and threw down a third heavier coat.
Waited about 45 minutes before I handled them.

Well as silly as it may sound...I have an SR5 and I don't want any TRD badging on my rig. The rims I bought are 17" aftermarket reproductions of 16" TRD Tacoma Pro Styles. They told me they were coming with blank center caps, but that wasn't the case and they don't even make a blank center cap for these. So I decided to make my own and try to learn a new skill on the fly. Time will only tell how well I did.

As far as the blue....someone will guess what it is.

A lot of stuff happened this weekend and I am kind of disappointed.

I installed my lift, new wheels/tires put on, and alignment.

    Suspension:
Toytec front coils 521600 (2.5" lift)
Wheelers t13 rear coils (1.5" lift)
Bilsten 5100s front (set to 0) and rear shocks

For some reason I got like 3.5" -4" of front lift??? And about 1-1 1/4" rear lift.

I have that horrible reverse rake look now.

I dont understand how I got that much lift up front.. clip on 5100 was already on lowest setting and I did not install perch upside down.

I know springs settle but I highly doubt it will be enough to fix this. Anyone have any input?

Positive notes I like wheels and tires and was able to get a decent alignment with factory ucas (after explaining what I needed to the tech) and no rubbing with 285s.

Funny, today I just installed an almost new take off TRD Pro Front Strut/ Coil kit with a Toytec Baja/TRD PRO 1" spacer, was expecting to get 1.75" lift but ended up similar to you with almost 3.25. Hoping it will settle before the alignment on Mon. I only want 1.75! ):

It is odd that you post that picture .
Do you know what years or vehicles that coil over comes from?
The only reason I ask is that upon delivery of our T4R 2 weeks ago there was a Pro T4R in the bay getting some rockers put on.
I asked to look at it & it has the remote reservoir Fox shocks.
Is 2019 the first year for Fox?
Any Toyota techs or people who own an older one?
That appears to be a great upgrade to my factory units when they expire.
Do you have a part number for them by chance?
Thanks & hope you get leveled out!

The part # is TRDPRO kit PTR13-89160, it's off a 2018. The 2019 switched to Fox from my understanding

Then I can only assume that if you were able to do a direct bolt on install that it would be possible for me also...
We just need to figure out the numbers to make it level!
    Am I correct?
Completely new to T4R'S. We have 2 3/4 ton diesels...
    Thanks,

There's no way the pro suspension with just the lower seat is giving anyone 3.5" of lift, literally impossible. The 1" lower spacer provides 1" of lift and the pro suspension provides an additional .75"

We took delivery of ours 2 weeks ago right after the last snow.
If it works, it is the best idea ever!
I would love that feature on my plow trucks. No more getting out to knock the ice off the wipers! We have used heated wipers but they are expensive to replace...
    Brilliant idea!

I had to look up what it was. At first I was like heated wipers? Then I realized it was just like the back and side window defrosters when I looked at the windshield. It's a good idea...probably would only come in handy if you forgot to lift your wiper blades during an ice storm.

The strut assembly was preassembled so I didn't need to loosen the lower control arm cam bolts or the upper control arm bolts, I undid the sway bar, top 3 strut tower bolts, bottom strut bolt and the 2 bottom hub assembly bolts by the lower ball joint, slid out the oem assembly, slid the TRD kit in, rebolted/ torqued everything with the jack under the lower control arm, not compressed all the way, but not much droop.

What is your front end center hub to lower fender lip measurement?
If you are got 4 inches of lift you'd be at about 24 inches.

yup, did a quick shake down drive last nite, 20-30 mph, found every pot hole I could! Drives great, no pulling, no noises or shakes.

My ctr hub to fender measurements are now at 22.5" on the fronts ( level), was at 19.25".

Watt maker - That's a really good point about 2wd vs 4wd and the weight difference. My UCA angles actually look ok, I have an alignment scheduled for tomorrow am, I'm sure they will loosen the lower cam bolts to adjust, if it still sits at 3.25" lift after that then I'll probably remove the 1" spacer. Anybody else add the TRD kit to a SR5 2wd?
Just realized the prev owner did not send the orig lower spring seats, anyone have a part number, guessing my SRS stock ones wont fit.

I'll definitely look around, thx for the Toytec tip. Maybe I'll add a Cornfed 1.5 to the rear and leave the front for now. Just didn't want to go that high.. yet!
