What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Despite seeing all the 6th gen interior I'm so happy to be inside the basic 5th gen.
(BTW, just realized iPhone15 camera quality is little bad vs my old Note10+.)

 

Wireless Airplay and more importantly, cleaned the inside.

Worked on my wiring setup
How I was gonna route power to the rear
Passenger side is for surge plate n driver side is blocked by ARB compressor
Removed the manifold for more room to reach gaskets…


…discovered I need a new manifold…

no idea, the bolt heads on the outside are perfect
Can’t tell what it is(other than rust)
Almost like salt water corrosion???

who knows but always worth checking if you have a compressor with a manifold

@kpmhspirit Thanks! I'm in the same boat. Those cubbies are pretty useless as is and especially the little one. I think I want that one just to fill the spot. I'll stay away from the 1 of 4040 though.

 

Went with a hammer and a screw driver as that was what I had available Got it off!

Back up and running with the upgraded housing! Don't worry, I changed out the tubes.

 

Congrats on getting it sorted and on the upgrade. For anyone else worried about breaking the tabs off of the plastic housing, consider purchasing the Motivx Tools MX2320-US wrench as it wont break the tabs.

 

Funny thing is the one I bought I got from the Toyota parts department that they recommended haha

 

One thing I noticed about the tool I have (bought it at Autozone) is that it "fits" in a couple positions. But it fits better (correctly) only one way.

 

100% I always used it in the position where the tabs filled the whole slot so that it was locked in fully and as deep as possible.

 

What are you using for wireless CarPlay?

 

That's why I got one. I chipped one of the tabs on our Camry. The Motivx is a much better tool.

 

Sunday I had re-installed Fang on Pax side cause the 1st one I did was crooked at tip. I removed it & tried the smaller textured one, too small & when scraping the original one went through the paint, OOPS! So I ordered the the flat one, But that too was too short(Thought that's what I had ordered before). So ordered the original style installed almost perfect, just a slight wiggle near the end, no biggie, when I came home from getting a pizza Sunday evening I notice the tip had peeled up, so I pressed it back on. Yesterday I thought about it & decided to do an old grease label thing we used on the helicopter swashplate, M/R head to seal the Mil-Spec. labels Clear Nail Polish. put a little on both Fang tips even though the D/S side was staying in place figured why not. You have to really look to see the "gloss" of it. Thanks Mrs. Jones! I know pretty boring but I did use it to go get some cash @ ATM yesterday .May head up the road for a couple pre game reeb's

LOL My wife noticed mine about a month ago (cause I had backed into garage vs pulling in )& asked, "Did You put those letters on?" I laughed & told her that's part of the TRD Pro vs TRD OR I previously owned. P.S. I bought the current model 20-Nov-23. Women

 

Haha, I hope no one really cares what someone else thinks about their vehicles. And I am really trying not to be judgmental of those who may believe their model is superior. Different tastes, different desires, different money. I may or may not be adding the bronze lettering to my non 40th, I haven't decided yet. Not because I want to pretend I'm a 40th but because if I decide to do bronze wheels I like how it will tie them together. Same with the heritage grill, not to pretend I'm a Pro but because it looks way better imo.

@HuskerRunner I used to work in the custom parts industry and I've seen kids with little money buy what they can afford and be really hurt when someone shit on it. It bummed me out. Especially knowing that I used to look down on cheap parts when I was young and thoughtless with money to blow and was probably one of those people. I'm blessed I became aware of who I was being and changed how I showed up in a lot of ways. It's brought me a lot of peace and amazing things in life. Have a great day my friend

Funny. Mrs HR has said "ffs, just get it" about a few of my more frivolous mod wants, but thats a slippery slope. If I give up the highground for a wrap and powdercoat, you can bet an equal amount will go straight to Disney or some crap.

 

Haha, sounds a bit like my Mrs. At first, it was "only get one big mod a year so you aren't spending so much money". Then, after talking to her every day for months about what I'm going to buy next, she changed her tune to "just buy it already, I'm tired of hearing you talk about it"

 

The wife happened to be out in the driveway when the FedX truck pulled up with my new wheels. I just bought the 4R a month ago. She said what's he delivering? I said it must be the second set of wheels that came with the truck... Even better, the FedX driver looked right at her and said that new vehicles often come with two sets of wheels now, then turned and gave me a wink. Hilarious
