If you buy the Carista OBD2 dongle and use the app you can customize a lot of the dings and other features.

    Edit:
Having owned three 4Runners over 30+ years (1987 1st Gen, 2000 3rd Gen, & now a 2018 5th Gen), for me, each generation is a quantum leap of features over the previous one. I’m pretty happy with mine.

Its awesome to see an old friend from the Jeep forums. I think we left Wranglers for the same reasons. I love my Pro. I only have one major complaint and its the remote start. No other vehicle including Jeeps that I know of shuts off when you open the door and there is absolutely zero reason for it that Toyota can give me. That's my biggest complaint. Second biggest is the app is quirky, but when it works its worth it.

I don't have a single complaint with the interior except for the materials not matching. Just seems odd. Otherwise, I bought this thing to go 200,000 miles, fly down my crappy 3 mile dirt road to home, and go on the roads that take you to where the wild things are.

I'd love to have lane keep, blind spot monitoring, and back up sensors. However after having all of those features in my last vehicle (2015 Ford SHO) and all of its problems, ill take my 4runner anyday over it and any GM or Chrysler vehicle. Well, maybe I'd take the new Hummer truck.

I had my ‘18 TRD Off Road for about two months. Loved my 2nd gens. 3rd gen was a huge disappointment. The engine sucks.

Ive been in my 4R for one week now. My biggest complaint is the audio control layout on the steering wheel is jacked up.

to move thru the radio presets, you go up and down, but to go to a higher preset number, you press down, not up. in my mind, you should press up to go a higher number so it seems backward. I guess it would make sense if you think of the radio stations in a list going down:
    1.
    2.
    3.
    ...

in which case, the up and down buttons would be perfect for navigating up and down the list. But, that's not how the head unit displays them - the stations are arranged horizontally: 1. 2. 3.

so if you are on station 2. and want to change to 3, you press down..not right, and not up.

Along the same lines, you press right to turn the volume up, and left to turn the volume down.

Why couldn't they just make the volume controls up and down, and left/right to select presets?

This was covered in another thread. I think it's because the presets were listed top to bottom in the older radios and they apparently decided not to change it when they changed the radio. It makes sense in my '19. Not so much in the newer ones, though.

Yes - completely unintuitive. To turn the volume up, press right. To turn the volume down, press left. To move forward in the song list, press up, to move back, press down... Crazy. I've never seen a remote control where volume up/down wasn't up/down. I'm sure it's due to Toyota's great reliability (sarcasm).

There's a light in your overhead console with the sole purpose of illuminating the T-case selector. Check it out, it literally only shines in that direction. A bit dim though I guess.

The biggest laugh I get and others have said same thing, Why is there an old digital clock in the dashboard?

Uh oh, don’t look to the left of the steering wheel. There’s no illumination of the outside mirror controller, the AC inverter, or the actual illumination dimmer switch itself! (At least on my 2018, maybe your MY is different).

They should put at least a rear locker in all 4wds and when I open the hood I want the engine bay to light up like the interior does when I open the doors.

I bought a sr5p,a pretty basic model. If they made it without power windows and power seats, I would rather have that. I have other cars with all the options but that is not why I bought the 4Runner.

Ya you don’t want anything power on new vehicles IF you want to keep them for an extended period. Just run Em to 100 thousand miles and sell them.

My ‘22 sr5p just will sit in the garage at my cabin in Idaho. I’ll leave it there at the end of this summer and will probably never see more than 500-1000 miles a year max. Those options just don’t matter to me. I do have a new Mercedes and a new Porsche with all the options to drive day to day.

Add a light into the knob and logic controls = 15.99 *150,000 4Runners per year = $2,398,500 additional cost to Toyota. Why would they?

Their shitty fing paint...2022 3400 miles never seen salt or trees over it. Just gave it it’s second hand wash and was bummed immediately. And then it started to rain which wasn’t in the forecast as soon as I dried it.
