Yeah, it would be a fun little run about!

It reminds me of my brother's 1987 Corolla FX16 hatchback. It had the 4A-GE and a 5 speed and was probably about 2000# curb weight. I learned to drive in that car!

It wasn't really fast, but it was quick and fun to drive!

Haha yeah, I had three little Citroen’s in a row in my youth, to be precise the Citroen AX GT, ugly as xxxx, just 1.4l and 80HP on the wheel but with only 1600lbs and a very short gearbox it was fun, I squeezed out 20HP more just with eliminating the production tolerance and it was ready to scare a lot of people and run up to honest 110 mph...
The Yaris GR can do all that way better but with still the lovely feeling of a rocket powered shoebox on wheels

I wonder what % of 4 Runner owners hold onto them for more than ten years?

Thanks for that, Huzer21! If 10 is average, then I'm sure there are some who just never part with them. Actually, I met an elderly woman who lives on one of the many islands around Vancouver Island, and she still drives her 1972 Land Cruiser out around her small acerage tending to her farm animals and pets. Haha, the old FJ was stock and unmolested, but rough. It did the job, though, and most importantly, it was like an old friend to her.

Im going to give my Runner to my son when he is 15, going to buy me another Runner..

but if I had extra play money,

I would like to own a 1973 Ford Bronco or a 1968 Ford Mustang in Baby Blue

I'd love another of either...I've had a '69 Bronco (it was really rough, but still fun), and a '67 Mustang convertible (straight 6, but still fun!). Had a '67 Cougar too. I'm not sure if I'll go old for a third car, or just get something new/fun for what's next. I've been watching the new Bronco...pretty excited to see how it looks when it's finally released.

I can pretend I'd hold on to the 4Runner forever, but my history with cars tends to be replacement about every 2 years...the Tacoma was an outlier at 4 years.

I always want a Land Cruiser. I got my 4R because I couldn’t afford one now.
So, next one is definitely a Land Cruiser

I keep thinking of getting something different. We got the wife a new Tundra Limited last year and my Runner has been paid off for a while. Problem is I get bored with what I drive. Ive looked at a Tundra, Audi A6 and a Land Rover. Still driving the Runner and still looking.

If we just dreaming... An H1 Alpha... A Chevelle SS... And a GTO...

But in the realistic possibilities... Depending on what features it has and the final look of that new bronco I may eventually get my very first Ford.

The Runner is Great but you're not the first that has said they get bored fast with car's.

    Have you ever leased?

Thou I think it's a waste of money but that is just my opinion

Wow so you switch up often. Is it because you get bored or because you just want change?

Ahhh lucky you to have owned those cars, Growing up my Dad had a Mustang but my older Cousin Wrecked it..
    And that was History

Would love a new Landcruiser but leaning towards an F250/350 "Godzilla" 7.3 gas truck. Either one is very overbuilt and would be the last vehicle I will ever buy. Hopefully

I little of both. I have yet to own anything that really knocked my socks off, and I just like to experience different vehicles. I really like the 4Runner, but I don’t get done driving it and think, “wow, that was awesome!”. I primarily think, that was a comfortable, reliable drive.

A project vehicle would definitely prolong the 4Runners stay, though.

Love my 4runner but cant appreciate techno upgrades in the entertainment systems and driver overriding responses that help drive costs up.......safety is good, but cant we all just learn to pay attention to what we're doing........

All the technology in the world can not save me where i have to travel during the daily rush hour with idiots....many of which dont speak english and the rest only a mutated version. They dont understand signage very well either.

    Thanks for letting me rant.

Well considering I just got my 2020 a couple months ago I’m probably set for a bit, but long term I plan on keeping it for a while and adding a small second “city” car- which hopefully means some sort of stick shift hot hatch: secretly been in love with Hyundai Elantra gt N line, nice little cheaper GTI competitor. Maybe a veloster, mini two door, gti itself? Something along those lines for some “slow car fast” ripping around the local neighborhood for errands.

Well jnr0104, don’t sell yourself short! It’s not unrealistic to live another 30 years, so that will be an old 4 Runner by then!

My 2005 just turned 15, I purchased it new and it still runs like a champ...the 4th gen is my favorite platform. The '17 stays in a heated garage all winter, so I'll probably own it forever!
