Volume button orientation

I received mine yesterday. Install was easy, but it didn’t work. Volume button ended up activating voice command and voice command button stopped working. i put everything back together and contacted meso about it. Waiting for their reply.

@mattrsupplyco please let me know if yours works properly once installed. I wonder if I got a defective one

PS: In their install video, it calls for T25 to remove the torx screws. These screws were really tight and mine started stripping so I stopped right away and used a T27. Worked like a charm. (Theyre doing it on a Tacoma so I don’t know if that’s why it was different in size)

 

So, it’s a japanese vs us thing.

Volume:
- When you rotate the knob, you rotate it left to right not… up and down. So the buttons in the steering wheel are also left is low, right is high.

Track:
- A track list goes to top to bottom, like a stack. Think of the back of your CD albums in the 90s. Up goes back to the previous track, down goes to the next track.

This is actually more intuitive and having the volume up down and tracks left to right actually is odd.

 

Just ordered one.

Finally a way to fix this idiocy.

Anyone wanting to order this, I'd wait 'til @mattrsupplyco receives and installs his. First report wasn't so glowing...

 

Mine was shipped...hopefully I'll get it before the weekend and take a few minutes to install it then.

I am bemused at how many of you seem to be freaking out over the orientation of the volume control on your steering wheels. Coming from a '19 to a '23, I got used to it in about a day.

 

Please keep us posted if they fix this for you.

this is the response I received “Can you please send me a picture of your factory pcb board. We are getting updates that some of the 4runners in the recent years have changed.”

I’ll keep updating as I hear back from them once they ve received my picture

 

I'm bemused that you don't understand that some people would like all of their cars' interfaces to function the same way and not have to remember from one car to the next why things aren't reacting as they should without taking one's eyes off the road.

 

Hmm. Volume up is up and down is down. Track froward is forward and back is back. Seems its all the others that have it wrong. lol

But i definitely was not used to the right way of changing songs till my 4R. lol

I got an e-mail from Meso Customs that the circuit board used is not compatible with some 4Runners and they are holding off on send out orders (mine included).

Nice to know they’re responsive to it in a quickly manner. Hopefully they don’t have too much trouble finding a fix for it

 

I get it might not be perfect but it’s such a tiny problem for people to be getting so upset by.

 

That sounds like my wife's logic lol. It's not the severity of the issue that is so frustrating, it's the concept and reasoning. Why do that, why make that change. Then again, I flip out over little things if they're sufficiently stupid (in my opinion). Perhaps you have better temperament and emotions control

 

That's your opinion, and that's fine, but the bottom line is people are upset, and a solution is at hand. If this doesn't affect you, why do you feel it necessary to pontificate on it?

Similar to my wife's logic and demeanor sometimes, I get pissed off when people play the cool chill card and tell you to relax, or the worst "why do you care it doesn't affect you"
