Better explanation. I agree. Looks cool and it will give my 4R a better “respiratory” system.

The air is being drawn in from the fender well and outside the engine bay. The Heat difference between up on the A pillar and the fender well will be a few degrees different and won’t provide much performance gain. Also, when I pulled my fender liner to tighten the nuts on the snorkel is was fairly clean so I’d make the assumption the quality of air is still marginally different.

It makes a cool whistle sound

Having just completed a 1500 miles round trip on I5 to Seattle and back I can assure you there is zero performance gain.

Meh, I haven’t noticed a difference in fuel mileage or performance.

I got mine because of some of the place I take the 4R. I have had water crossings before in other vehicles where the bow wave caused water to come up over the hood and it was concerning. I’d rather have the peace of mind if and when I take my 4R through a river or water crossing I’m not worried about water getting into the engine. I also need to go through and relocate all my breathers up and out of the way and figure out the air injection pump. Lastly, i’d Like to find all the little holes and grommets in the floorpan and get those sealed up.

I’m also more than likely going to stick with the OE air filter. One thing to look at with the TRD and K&N filters is...take it out, hold it up to a bright light or the sun and see how many little pin holes you see light through. If you see light, dust and dirt can get through and end up in the engine cylinders. Food for thought. If you’re going to be in off Highway dusty environments I’d stick to the more restrictive OE filter than a TRD or K&N

@2016Pro maybe you should look into this for one of your mods, wouldn’t want you Pro owners out there getting door dings from inconsiderate drivers or shopping carts, let alone coach purses at the mall.

For sure! but, but can you really beat 40% off..? I mean its hard to pass $129 a wheel...
I was hesitant at 1st, knowing everyone is going to be running these wheels. They already were, but now even more so! It was just too hard to pass up though.

It's just a bunch of angles and holes. But they don't get that dirty too often if you are only running back and forth from the mall like most people that have those rims do. :cookiemonster:

Can’t you just put some ceramic coating (front and back) every 6mo? From there pressure washing weekly will be easy

18 individual holes that need to be cleaned, all catch brake dust. Panted clear coat and plastic center caps, so you have to be careful not to scratch the heck out of them. I like the idea of ceramic coating them, but just cant be bothered. Why would one want to go from the trail rim to the TRD rim? Thought the trail rims are 1/2" wider.

Good point. I actually really like the look of the Ceramic Vs the FN wheels. Still, not bad at all IMO for the deal they were offering. Once these get banged up, I can replace them in 3 years with something more expensive / durable.

The Pro wheels ended up just being a little more than what people are asking for OEM take offs on CL. I'll be content with these as SR5 replacements, and if I get the itch to get something else, should be able to nearly recoup what I paid for them.

I picked up my gray Pro wheels today. The parts guy said I was lucky I ordered gray, the black wheels are taking longer to come in because so many more people ordered black. Whether true or not, I dunno, but he also said Toyota limits the dealership to ordering 16 at a time (not sure if sets or wheels), and that he had well over 100 wheel sets ordered. Got the shift knob, too.

Still waiting for my parts also. Parts manager said the sale was "MUCH bigger then Toyota expected" every supplier is scrambling to get the parts. Guess it's just more evidence of a good economy... Just got word the parts will be at the dealer in the 18th.

That is hilarious. I had to call Lewis Toyota (Topeka, KS) today as I have received nothing but a receipt.
He stated the exact thing to a "T"!
Of my 3 parts they have 2 & should be getting my last @ the beginning of the week. I should have mine by the end of next week!
Toyota needs to follow the forums & help the owners more!
None of our local dealerships were involved & ours didn't even know about it until the day before!
As far as I could tell only 3 dealerships participated in this. Can anyone confirm this?

I bought my turd at lewis. Fair people to feel with. look at it this way.
-Toyota did a sale for what is a fairly small market as far as their overall product line is concerned.
    - Said sale was in the middle of tax return season.
    - United States economy is the best it's been in forty years or more.
    - The sale was short notice (maybe a week) but was passed around the forums that got the information out on participating dealers and products on sale.
    - 40% off, is a fair deal in any book.

It's no wonder they got over run with orders. So far they seem to be making good on them all. Good for Toyota, good for the customer. Win win.

i agree it was a great sale in deed. but if you look closely at the 40% off sale, it's 40% off the highest price. if you compare many dealers, the average price before the sale for TRD Wheels ~ $180. but the sale was actually 40% off $215, which was $129. most of us are use to the $180 internet prices. so if we paid $129, it only feels like we got 28.3% sale and not 40% :)

but overall.. i'm happy with the sale :)
