I am new here but have had my 86 4Runner for 6yrs and love it. I found a friend that has this transmission and he thinks it should fit, but it doesn’t have the vin attached.
    1. Can anyone identify what type of transmission this is from the photos?
    2. Do you know what years transmission would be compatible with my car?

That looks like an L43 2wd transmission. You want a W56a or W56b "top shift" transmission.
