Great so far. But they haven't really been put to the test other than gravel hills and such in the area. No snow to speak of. Been great in the rain and the ride is every bit as good as a mild mannered road tire, imho.

See, I disagree. I had Toyo AT2's on an F150 back in 2013 and they were solid in snow, about the same as the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. 75mph from Fredericton to St Leonard (about 150 miles each way) on the trans Canada Hwy in a nasty snowstorm 4 times in 3 days, zero issues.

as for the best tire I've ever ran....Interco TRXus MT. Ran them in a 285/75R16 on a 2005 Nissan Frontier with nothing more than a 2" lift. Only downside was they lasted about 35k miles and were worn enough that I would not go through another winter with them.

I can say that General Grabber ATx are worse in snow and rain than Falken AT3W's. I had the Falkens. Dealer forgot to order new ones when I called to set up an appointment so I settled for the ATx and have not really been happy with them. The sooner my 4Runner gets here, the sooner I can be done with them (dealer is putting Toyo AT3's on before I pick it up, I'm not dealing with the OEM garbage in snow).

75 MPH in a "nasty snowstorm?" You Canadians are crazy!

LoL. Should be 75kmph which is normal for us here in US (46mph).

Drove 3 hours home from Vermont last weekend in a mix of rain and sleet on the Toyos. No complaints.

It was raining pretty hard here in Derpifornia (normal rain for other areas) and I haven't had any issues.

Just had a trip to Portland and back to SoCal. It was pouring because of the atmospheric river but had no issues with rain or snow.

I'm not Canadian, my former in-laws lived on the US side of the border and my ex's niece lived in Fredericton and had no way to get back for Christmas. Besides, no sudden movements and a real understanding that if things go south, you're in the ditch (to be honest, I think that's the Canadian trucker mentality...those guys are crazy, we see them in Maine all the time and they dont slow down in traffic in snowstorms, I had the advantage of not seeing a single other vehicle on the road after I passed the snowplows coming out of Fredericton). Trans Canada is a highway, nothing I would consider a sharp bend on that stretch so easy steering adjustments and dont touch the brakes.

Yeah, if I were Canadian...but then it would have been around 120 kph...

I understand that you can go fast in snow and not crash. For me, knowing that the possibility is so much higher makes me want to drive slower. I'd feel much better sliding into the ditch at 55 than at 75. Plus, traffic conditions are a factor.

I chose the Toyos over the BFGs since I live in Seattle - been solid so far. Not bad in the snow either.

Traffic absolutely is a factor. In this case, zero traffic (I was a little concerned about the possibility of finding a moose in front of me), had I come up on any vehicles, I'd have lifted and slowed down to about the speed they were going and passed them. Time and place. Tomorrow morning, it will be snowing when I drive to work, I'll drive the same speed as the traffic around me while paying attention to what's going on around me (because I'm honestly more worried about the other people on the road.).

I've been driving in snow for over 30 years, first time I ever legally drove on the road was in freezing rain. The one thing I don't like driving in is 33-35 degrees F and rain on the highway, too easy to hit a pocket of ice. Its the one condition where I think AWD/full-time 4WD offers a huge advantage. At least snow is predictable.

2wd. Was doing 70+ on the freeway most of it. The PCS off warning light came on because the front camera and radar sensor where caked with a half inch of slush but the road surface was most just wet (they pretreat the roads with brine in much of New England when winter weather is forecast)

I had Toto AT3 for the last 50k miles and love them. Live in Seattle so lots of rain driving, highway speed thru puddles, hydroplaned a few times but never felt like I lost control. Good in snow as well, drove many people home in the snowmageddon we had in the past.
I am considering Wildpeaks for the next set, but only because I might want a new look :)

Are these tires pretty quiet? I'm thinking about getting a set.

I think they're quiet, especially for being a somewhat aggressive AT. Mine made a higher pitched hum at first, that seems to have actually mellowed out. I have around 30K miles on mine, and they're still very comfortable to drive around with.

Edit: that last sentence was probably super confusing due to an error I didn't notice until just now.

Mine, P-rated stock size, are not much different from the OEM Dunlops. I don't notice them at all.

Excellent tire, I love mine. Fantastic in wet weather driving. Reasonably quiet for an aggressive AT tire. I live in Florida and find them a bit sensitive to heat meaning that they gain 3-4 psi as the day gets hotter and I’m driving hard on the interstate. That being said, 32 psi in the am and 35-36 psi in the afternoon, they’re still great. Also, mine seemed to break in over the first 2-3k miles and really got quiet and comfortable after that, not to say I didn’t love them before break in because I loved them from the very first mile.

Edited to add, stock size and SL load.

I can not speak for the A/T 3’s, but i have the new R/T trail’s installed and they are very quiet, and do very well in the rain. They have decent sipping, and good channels, and in my opinion a good looking ruggedness to them. They also handle very good on the road at highway speeds.

The Firestones appear to have a lot of siping, which is good for snow traction.

My Toyos are showing signs of dry rot already, after around 26 months and ~50K miles of actual use. I've had them since April or May of 2020, but I run MT's from around May until October.

I'm not sure if this is typical, or due to conditions I've used them in. I've been happy with them otherwise. Load range C, 285/70/17.
