Took the plunge

Hello all, new owner to a 2015 4Runner Pro “inferno” wasn’t in the market but got offered a killer deal so I’m getting it tomorrow! Hopefully this will be as good to me as my 2014 Tacoma Baja was!! Any thing I should be aware of please let me know!

It's very rare because it's a 2015 TRD Pro only color. They didn't make many, and they likely won't run that color ever again.

Haha, I thought that's the reason you bought it. Well, enjoy, 2015 was the first year they ran a Pro and an exclusive color, you really do have a pretty rare combo.

 

No it’s was just by far the best looking 4Runner and I knew it was a pro and all but didn’t know about the color thing.

So found out something interesting, I asked the dealership a few times why wasn’t this CPO? They couldn’t give me answer it was under the miles and everything else checked out, so just for shits I called Toyota corporate about the truck and asked a few questions about the open recall. They said dealers first aren’t allowed to sell vehicles with open recalls at all and 2nd due to the open recall it couldn’t be CPO?
Now big question what do I say to the dealership, should I complain and try to go get it Certified?
What do u guys think?

Fuel pump recall

 

You could push for it if you really want it. It'll give you a free warranty, but will only last to 2022 or 100,000 miles and you probably won't need it.

They'll fix the fuel pump for free whenever they come up with the fix regardless of whether it's CPO or not.

 

Did you run the VIN? I didn't think 15s were affected...?

And I'm no CPO-knower but can they CPO a 5 year old vehicle? I thought the vehicle had to be within the 3/36k original warranty to qualify for CPO extended warranty? Also... was it sold at a Toyota dealer?

 

Yes, I have a car fax report also but was told the recall was going to be done soon. When I called Toyota corporate they said any Toyota with an open recall cannot be sold at all. I did buy it at a very large Toyota dealership. Also as long as its under 80k and meets Toyota standards it will be a CPO vehicle but with an open recall it can’t be CPO.
Now I have to go back in the dealer with this knowledge and see what they have to say.
