You're asking why you would do it to a vehicle that was designed for offroad..yet in your original post, you said you were out running errands, probably in your 4runner, which was designed to be offroad. These double-standards are hilarious to me.

Forgive me, but you are missing the point. For most, our runners are daily drivers for multi tasking. Running errands does not mean I want to look REDICULOUS doing so. I personally would be embarrased if FORCED to ride in one of those things.

Trust me, I'm not missing the point of this post whatsoever. Also, why would anyone force you to ride in anything? Are you not capable of choosing not to?

You see crap like this all the time in Louisiana. The front door might be hanging on by a single nut and the front corner is smashed beyond repair, don’t mind the broken back glass window with a trash bag taped over it, oh the engine is making a knocking noise? Don’t worry, it’s got shiny 34” rims.

Wow, you're such a nice fella. Why don't you WALK in front of a mirror if you have one and discuss this with the other nice fella you see. I won't waste any more time on this thread. Most ALL discussions I see on here are related to off-roading, which is why I started this thread. Thought most would see the humor, and I think most do. BI.

I am sure the Toyota execs are keeping those pics in mind for the next Gen 4Runner. I mean why not offer another model.

I suppose another way to look at it is that when someone goes wild with wheels or whatever, things that are designed to draw attention, they must expect both positive and negative viewpoints, right? At least, I would hope they don't expect 100% thumbs-up responses.

I think I would drive that straight to the shop before I had to have it towed.
I hope I never meet anyone who would think that looks good. It certainly does nothing for my faith in humanity!

Well, like kmeeg said, the real problem is that there are people who actually think this looks good on their car. And obviously someone is willing to install them for the poor fellow. Maybe he can claim 50% of his tread wear warranty after about 10,000 miles, since half the tire won’t make contact with the road.

Those cars don’t make it 10,000 miles on those tires without sliding off the road and being totaled against a pole or a tree or being seized in a drug bust.

Subaru Sti was the most fun car for the price and had great driving characteristics. True that suspension is too firm to my taste but gripping like glue. It is sad some one doing this to a Subi.

Same story with some of the odd looking 4Runners I see.

I am very sorry, I hate to do this, but can we please, at least, spell RIDICULOUS correctly? I know I'll get flamed for pointing this out, but it's a mental illness of mine.

    WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY:

    ridiculous
    rĭ-dĭk′yə-ləs
    adjective
    1. Deserving or inspiring ridicule; absurd, preposterous, or silly. synonym: foolish.
    2. Fitted to excite ridicule; absurd and laughable; unworthy of serious consideration.
    3. Involving or expressing ridicule.

and... for the record... I agree that it looks silly and I would never do it to my vehicle. However, to each his own.

    Kyx nerfbars, TRD roof rack.
They do that a lot down here in Florida also. I also don't get buying an offroad vehicle just to put tires and rims that can barely handle the street let alone off road. Maybe I'm just becoming an old fart. I still don't get it though.

No need to get snippy. As I said, it's a mental illness. I simply can't keep looking at multiple bold and all caps misspelled words. It truly detracts from the credibility of the debate. My apologies if I offended. And, like I said, I am on your side on this topic. I think it does look ridiculous.

Don't keep looking at it then. I think most others understood and agreed with the post. Almost everyone posting quickly on forums misspell words on occasion. How can that detract from credibility? At least your admitted mental illness is not so bad that you cannot identify REDICULOUS!!! as ridiculous.
BTW, thank you, for being on the side of the sane. Apology accepted.
