Yes I was hoping the bracket just holds the blank cover for the delete kit but the installation instructions I have says the leave them in there when new rack is installed. I better wait to get the brackets just in case. It says “make sure the brackets stay in place” while installing rack.

i'm not really sure what the purpose for those brackets are for the pro rack. i'm guessing as you tighten the bolts, the brackets will push up on the bottom of the pro rack evenly. yes i would wait for those brackets. that's why i posted these initially as they are not included with the new pro racks.

I suspected they would be found under the oem mounts but...
Somewhere I have some from my old FJ but I cannot locate them, better off with new anyhow.

If you take the PRO rack off and replace it with a standard oem rack, do you need any additional parts? Or just order the OEM rack and you’re good to go?

I wondered particularly if that rubber piece that runs the length of the channel is the same for both racks.

When I removed my stock rack, I saw these bolts. They differ then the TRD pro rack bolts.

Thank you for posting the sequence on these washers. I was trying to install TRD Pro rack I bought this weekend and picked up a set of bolts from Toyota yesterday and could not figure out how exactly to position these things

I took my pro rack off and installed the roof rail delete kit. The bolts for pro rack are Torx heads.

Sorry if I mislead anyone from this pic. The pro rack goes between the foam and composite washer.

    so it’s this order:

    1. Metal brackets - sits on truck rails
2 foam washers - sticks to metal brackets
    3. TRD pro rack
    4. Composite washer - sits on rack
    5. Torx bolts

    here’s a pic of a used set I installed for a friend.

Hello, I have all the parts to install the Pro rack on my SR5. Trying to figure out the placement of the 4 metal brackets that go on first. Do the far little tabs sticking up go on the inside towards the center of the roof or to the outside ? The pictures online don't show the edge of the outside roofline to tell? And in the Pro rack instructions it looks like they go towards the inside? Confused Thank you

I can link the Toyota instructions here but the pictures indicate that the tabs for the brackets should point towards outside of vehicle. But not sure how much difference it really makes.

I am thinking of buying a pro rack used and the person I'm getting it from said he used the same hardware from his standard rack to install the pro. Does that make sense?

    Does bot make sense.

Standard rack uses rubber washers and standard bolts. The trd pro install kits used two different kinds of washers and torx bolts. You’ll also need the brackets.

Going back to purchasing the rack at the dealer guys, I actually purchased mine at my local Toyota dealer in my area. All he needed was a VIN from a Pro. I went onto their site, pulled the VIN off of one of the Pro's for sale, and voila, it was done. Now the original dealer where I bought the vehicle, that's another story. They wanted me to make an appointment for inspection, and once they "confirmed" it was a Pro, they wanted to open a case with Toyota, etc... Ain't nobody got time for that... People doing their jobs too well.

My point is, call around. I'll bet you'd find one dealer that's willing to sell it to you. I paid $699 and change, and included the installation kit.

    Cheers,

    Sean

I was a bit skeptical about this when I got my rack, because one site said you need them, others not. I checked with my dealership guy, and yes, this is a part of the "delete" kit, and is not needed for the Pro rack install. In fact, I looked at the entire parts diagramme wiith him when purchasing. For the record, I did mine without it.. No issues with leaks, and it's been over 3 months. Now I will tell you, make sure you use a torque wrench to torque the bolts down, or else you WILL have leaks.

    Cheers,

    Sean
