The longest wait ever

Hello from Kansas! I ordered a white 2021 ORP with KDSS and I’m waiting for it to arrive. It was loaded on the ship in Japan on October 13th.

Anyone know how long it takes to swim the pacific and arrive at the dealership? I know it will have some options installed once unloaded stateside.

 

I actually think the trucks arrive fully built / optioned. Only the Pro has port- assembled extras.

Dunno on the transit time.

 

I think the wilderness package and paint protection film is installed at port according to the email I got.

I am thinking of ordering something myself either ORP or Venture model. Why did you choose KDSS any reason? I am curious as to your thoughts?

I watched a video on the plant where the 4Runner are made; apparently 1 week time frame to California and 4 weeks to East Coast of USA according to this video. I enjoyed watching this if you are interested:

Thanks for the video. I chose the KDSS because of the on and off road stability. Also, because it’s hard to find and hopefully makes the vehicle more desirable if I ever sell it. I don’t plan to do any extreme off roading but it’s nice to have if that plan changes.

Welcome from Colorado. I'm really enjoying my new T4R with KDSS, great choice! I was looking for the on-road handling advantages of KDSS and am not planning on a lift over 3", several of my family members are Toyota mechanics and recommended it for highway stability.

Hopefully it makes the trip from Nippon quickly!

 

You are lucky to know some and have some Toyota mechanics in the family! Wow that is great. I have an accord everyday car and lucky to have someone I trust. Anybody know any good Toyota mechanics or a dealer that will treat one fair around metro Detroit?

In 2020, Wilderness Package was all weather floor mats, cargo mat and roof rack cross bars.

 

They charge for this crap? Should of made the sale guy throw this in for free.

 

Stripped OR version, this was the only option listed. Pony up to ORP/Venture/Limited/Pro and would hope they "throw" them in.

Bare bones OR versions are few and far between. I wanted everything in the package (roof rack with no crossbars?), so it wasn't an issue. Yeah, the markup is silly, but final overall price was fair enough to close the deal.

 

My sales guys threw in floor mats and the cargo mats. Was going to buy the 4R anyways but nice of him to do it without me asking.

I agree on the crossbars dumb its even and option if you ask me. But I guess some people don't throw anything on the roof.

I was just saying these small options prolly could of gotten for free.

 

Huh. In 2017 that package plus a hitch ball was some sort of extra package that was listed as an add on but you actually got for free. My 17 bought new had it. Dunno.

 

Pretty soon the paper mats you get when you go in for service will be an up charge.

Got an update today that the 4Runner is in the US. They expect it to arrive sometime between November 22nd to the 30th. So I guess I’m going to wait another 3 weeks while it’s at port and then transported out here to flyover country.

 

It sucks to have to wait, but at least you have a timeline now
