as a kid I took a shot from a skunk's glands point blank in the face (about 2 ft away) - long story about how I got that close to a skunks ass, better over beers. But suffice it to say, it's not fun and it hurt. Couldn't see for a couple of hours, struggled to get a breath that didn't burn, even had skin issues for a few weeks... and eventually had to shave my hair off, burn the clothes I was wearing, and it took a couple of weeks to get rid of the odor. Yes.. that's after trying everything ever recommended to wash it off. It's a pretty darned potent solution and I no longer wonder why large predators go the other way when faced with that.

Like BionicRandy said.. it's not a gas... it's a liquid. Wet, thick, runny and the definition of rancid. Doctor said he was surprised I got my sight back as fast as I did.

I was in the military and got the obligatory tear-gassing a couple of times. It's very close, but with the added unremovable stink.

    Wow. Talk about chemical warfare.
It’s a good thing you weren’t smoking when you were sprayed. The skunk's spray contains a nasty mix of sulfer-containing chemicals that are highly flammable. :bananadead:

I know this challenge was getting a bit stale so here's my picture from today for the win. I couldn't really stop here due to a blind hill and I don't like getting shot at. I tried to get the Cruiser hood in the shot at least. The sign is priceless though, and gives you a good idea of the surrounding area I live in.

Next challenge: Your ride with a greenhouse or some other agricultural structure that isn't a barn.

On a rainy afternoon in the southern part of the agricultural California Central Valley, passing by the Buttonwillow Warehouse Company.

    From their website:
“The Buttonwillow Warehouse Company (BWC) is a family owned and operated business with over 50 years of experience serving California farmers. Originally started as a grain elevator and warehouse, the Buttonwillow Warehouse Company diversified into distributing fertilizers and crop protection products in 1970.”

    NEXT CHALLENGE:
Your vehicle and a larger than life-size billboard or statue of a human.

Here’s one at a gas station and museum on CA Rt 46, near the James Dean Memorial Junction, where the Hollywood actor died in a car crash on 9/30/1955.

I remember when I bought gas at $1.69 cents in Richmond Virginia, July 2020. It should be no more than $2.20 right now

Not that this is a gas price thread but the first tank of gas I ever bought was $1.19/gal back in 1979. I’m kind of surprised gas is as cheap as it is 42 years later. We’re about $3.05 here in Tennessee.

Not quite that old but remember my dad waiting in line when he had to fill up the 53 New Yorker hemi. They freaked out when gas was hitting 60-70 cents per gallon.

Yep, I remember that! $5 worth would not fit in a 20 gal. tank. You could cruise all night.

Then the "Arab oil embargo" happened.

Gas went to $7.50 a tank. To say we were pissed is an understatment.

    PXL_20211224_034501231~2.jpg

Next, since we're on a gas price tangent, a gas price that's an even number (excluding the 9/10 or .9 on the very end).

Here’s a gas sign with no .9 on the end.

Next challenge: Your off-road capable vehicle in some winter, or at least, inclement weather.

I issued the winter weather challenge. I was just posting a pic as an example since we had some winter weather. So the challenge is still winter/inclement weather.

Sorry, No 4runner snow pics. I just got Continental all-season tires mounted on the Corolla. I can get through 8 inches of snow.
