Wikipedia says overlanding:“Historically, "overlanding" is an Australian term to denote the driving of livestock over very long distances to open up new country or to take livestock to market far from grazing grounds.”

    Now;
“Overlanding is self-reliant overland travel to remote destinations where the journey is the principal goal. Typically, but not exclusively, it is accomplished with mechanized off-road capable transport (from bicycles to trucks) where the principal form of lodging is camping, often lasting for extended lengths of time (months to years) and spanning international boundaries.”

Anything less is just car glamping. LOL.

Edit: Since @MeefZah actually drove and camped in his 4R in Canada on his way to Alaska, he can actually be considered an official “overlander”!

I don't have the necessary sticker package to meet "overlander" criteria

I've slept in the 4Runner on my way to Florida. So, I'm kind of an overlander myself. :bananadance:

Oh, you're an overlander! You're not talking your way out of it!

Does a tank or a non movable cannon count as "artillery"?

If so then the next challenge is an election sign with one of the following graphics on it:

    A star or stars
    Quotation marks designating a nickname
A check box to simulate a vote

We're heading home from a family vacation. I figured I'd see what the challenge was and look for something on the way home.

I saw this challenge on Election Day and had a sign in mind. I think it had stars too, but it was for Sheriff Jimmy "JJ" Jones. The next day after election the sign was pulled. Too late.

Sorry I’ve been absent on the game. Rebuilding a house and all I have time for are trips to Home Depot and Lowe’s. Anyway, here’s a couple of leftover political signs with the “JJ” sign taken today.

Next challenge: Your engine compartment with a stuffed animal, mascot, or some other trinket setting on top of the engine.

Looks like a great trip! I've been to most of those places and used to frequent Deals Gap all the time when I had sports cars. Some of the dirt roads you were on look like parts of the TransAmerica Trail which I've driven on in western NC and East Tennessee portions. a0101465.jpgScreen Shot 2016-05-16 at 11.22.02 PM.jpg

Also not a great idea to open window and stop over a dead skunk, I don't encourage anyone to do this again

I'm concerned about your intended meaning for the word "harvested". Do any of these apply?

harvest (verb.) remove from a culture or a living or dead body, as for the purposes of transplantation. "The Chinese are said to harvest organs from executed criminals"

to gather, catch, hunt, or kill (salmon, oysters, deer, etc.) for human use, sport, or population control

To get (something) as the result of an action or effort.

To catch, shoot, trap, etc. (fish or game), usually in an intensive, systematic way, as for commercial purposes.

I just saw a show on the fox. When they hunt voles and stuff in the snow. They triangulate the preys location under the snow by using magnetic North.

I drove about 60 miles going to 3 places I thought I had seen or thought there would be a danger/risk sign, bit nope! Still keeping an eye out.

I would also like to take this opportunity to commend you on your dedication to get that photo!

When I was 8, my beagle puppy, my Daisy BB gun and I had a close encounter with a momma skunk and 3 babies. You can probably figure out the rest of that story.

Little known fact: skunk funk is not a cloud like a big fart. It comes out in a stream and they can direct it with a surprisingly high rate of accuracy.

Thanks! Keep up the quest. You can also get the 'reset' with a local landmark.

A couple of years ago my then-5 year old grandson and I were walking my dogs in the woods. I let him walk on leash the more docile of the dogs (which was still a 50# Husky so in hindsight not smart). A skunk ran out in front of us and the docile dog went nuts and chased after the skunk.... Kid didn't let go of the leash and took a 75' ride through the brambles until such time as the dog caught the skunk, mauled it to death, and everyone there - dogs and people - got sprayed. It was pretty unpleasant for me and the dogs but it was goddamn traumatizing for the kid. I had to carry him out of the woods to the nearest road and call my wife to come get him because he refused to walk and just stood in one spot and screamed...

Weirdly he still wants to walk the dog in the woods with me and stupidly I still let him so I guess no one really learned anything.

LOL Skunk stories never disappoint! If the boy took a direct hit, I completely understand his response. Many years later I was in a vehicle accident in which a halon fire extinguisher inside the truck (windows up) got busted open. I likened the skunk to that experience…halon takes the oxygen away so you can’t breathe; a center-of-mass hit from a skunk is damn near as effective at stopping you from breathing. Hehe Miserable, miserable stuff!
