It's in. I have to clean up the wiring, but it works. I'm going to drive to a park and see how it looks pointing into a field or into the woods. More pics later...

One thing that kinda sucked was that the mounting slots in the bumper were just a bit too close together. I had to "adjust" them with a mallet and a pliers.

    20200915_183254_HDR.jpg

I got the Caliraised OEM style switch in, but it's sticking a bit. I might have to take a little material off of the switch or the opening to make it work better.

I bought the wrong sized Cali light switch for mine. Have to try again soon.

The electrical I do for friends always looks good. :)

But, for some reason, mine always looks half finished.

I wasn't as impressed until I focused on the trees in the distance. The treeline straight in front of the 4runner is actually about 450-500' away. It doesn't look like it, but it is.

I think it will come in handy when I'm way in the boonies at night, or trail riding at night. I tried walking way in front of it and taking a picture of the front end with all of the lights on, but the camera couldn't capture it. It just looked blurry. But, it looks like an angry robot. :D

Yep, it gets you the distance. I pretty much only use mine if I’m doing 45+

Go on a backroad sometime and see how far away you can see road signs. I’ve had mine reflect signs over a half mile out.

also I’ve come to find out, having all these lumens the deer don’t know what to do and actually get outta the way instead of standing there like idiots.

At least I might be able to see the deer further out, and prepare for them to jump in front of me.

I can't wait to take a ride on the back roads with it! I'll make sure to pay attention to the signs.

All done! Used all M6 hardware so it is all 10mm and I plasti dipped the aluminum because I wanted it to match the interior. I think it came out well.

20 series V Slot from Makerstore USA (Openbuilds brand CNC rail)20200915_170814.jpg 20200914_153221.jpg This stuff is much sturdier than I expected, and is made to very tight tolerances. Not terribly expensive either, all things considered. They don't have many accessories to buy, though some of their hardware is a bargain, or really cool. They don't seem to offer custom cuts, but these rails can be bought in various lengths and connected to get you pretty close to what you want without cuts.

Also, check out Misumi USA- they have a better selection of metric profiles, better prices than 80/20, T-Nutz etc. for profiles, they can cut more precisely, have a LOT of hardware/accessories/attachments for sale, they were the ONLY source for inexpensive stainless steel nuts *made* for the profiles, and their shipping costs were cheaper... lead times are TBD, my order had it's labels printed yesterday and will likely be to me by Friday.

I'm currently working on mounting feet, and then I'm going to improve my version of the sharkfin delete...
Anyhow, thanks for posting you molle panel idea, I JUST saw it thanks to another member and realized that I coulda helped you out with this extrusion stuff days ago- better late then never?
edit: sorry for the weird comment-reply-syncing issue I seem to be having...

Thank you for the suggestion! I was looking into that stuff. I have decided to just use square and round steel tubing. I don't think I would use the slots very much.

yeah. It’s the same size as the holes for mounting in the truck so it all is the same thread which is nice.

I was originally supposed to go to an event this past weekend, but I decided to skip it for a few reasons. I was a little disappointed once the weekend came and went, but suddenly feel better about it. o_O

That's what it sounds like. Unless the test was performed before and they got the results afterward??

That's pretty lousy if they knew and attended anyway.

It's going to be an interesting chain of emails over the next few weeks.

That seems to be happening a lot. People get a test and just go about normal life (if they can) while waiting on test results.. it’s really shitty.

I'm actually jealous of you... no one around here seems to even believe in it. I've had to start taking a list of names of people who thought it was funny or "patriotic" to get close to me without a mask and whatnot, even my insurance claim was effed up because I was wearing a mask and attempting to stay distanced from the estimator. Dipstick got all mad and started ranting that covid was nothing, both his kids had it, he probably had it... yeah. In my driveway. Needless to say his household will be getting quite the biblical payback should I come down with it.

On another note, I ordered a nice fuel can. I don't really have a proper place to keep it yet, but I figured it was worth having for future adventures.

Be sure to get the nozzle or a siphon. The carb compliant nozzle sucks (as they all do)

or just tear it apart to get rid of the thing you gotta push on

They are well worth the cost of admission. I’ve got 4 of them and figure I won’t ever need new fuel cans. I had 2 ride in the back of my truck all around the country and have never had a single drop leak. No issues with altitude / temp / drops. Very well built

Either one will work, the one linked is the one I have. I threw all the carb ones in the trash after trying them once.
