Thanks! I'm pretty psyched to put the new goodies to use.

I wonder how the current regulations would affect a T.W.A.T run,,aside from not being able to go to Potosi Brewery. We can definitely maintain our distance! We'll just talk on the CB:cool:

I've been looking at the different molle panels for the rear windows. I'm starting to think about building my own version. Could be a good Sunday project once the weather improves.

In preparation for bigger tires (eventually), I had the shop I'm working with do a BMC while they're altering the skid plate. It's also getting an alignment. I'm looking forward to driving it with the lift and a proper alignment. It was driving fine, but the UCA's and lift affect the caster, so I'm getting it put back in spec.

Yesterday, I got the 4runner back from Performance Off Road, where I was having the front skid altered. I accidentally bought a skid that wasn't compatible with KDSS, so we had to make it work.

My friend had cut some of the skid off to get it to clear, but it didn't have room to flex. So, I decided to have the skid altered to make it work.

The shop cut off the front section of the skid, and made a new front section. They kept it flat further forward, thrn angled it upward towards the bumper, and flattened it out under the bumper. They drill mounting holes and put weld-nuts in the original SOS engine skid.

I put in 2 bolts yesterday to look at it, and to double check for clearance. It looks fantastic! I still need to paint it, though.

    20200327_185156.jpg

Here's our makeshift clearance test. We put ramps under the front passenger and rear driver tires, and drove up to droop the front driver tire as much as possible. I believe we maxxed out the KDSS piston, and had clearance to spare.

    20200327_175151-1.jpg

I have to say that I'm very happy with Both @SOS CONCEPTS and Performance Off Road.

The original skid was excellent quality, just not the right skid for my truck.

And, if anyone is looking for fabrication in the southeastern Wisconsin area, I highly recommend Performance Off Road in Sussex, WI. They did exactly what I asked, and it turned out better than I expected. It was a good experience all around!

    Cheers!

Do you have a write up for installing the switch or one you followed? I kind of want to do ditch lights on my runner now too! I have some switch I bought for my previous fj I never installed

Unfortunately, no. It was very simple. We cut a small slit in the wiring harness boot in the driver's side firewall, and fished the wires through.

I cut the connectors off the Rigid wiring harness, and soldered and heat shrink wrapped the wires to the Caliraised switch leads. Make the connections temporarily with wirenuts first, and test it out before doing the soldering.

I didn't figure out how to get the backlight to come on with the dash lights, but I might look into it later this spring when it's nice out and id feel like messing with it again. I believe @WanderlostOverland has a video or write up explaining how they were able to tap into the dash light circuit.

The battery connections are temporarily attached to the same bolts as the main battery cables. I intend to get some expandable battery terminal lugs eventually, to make it easier to add accessories

Also, I'm quite satisfied with the quality of the Rigid lights, if you're having a hard time deciding. The Caliraised switch and brackets are excellent as well.

I got the custom front skid painted and bolted it on today. I'm still impressed by how good it turned out. Here's a few pictures of the final product.

    Hey Jake,
Have you seen anyone mount the new Rigid 4 inch 360 lights to your Caliraised ditch brakets yet on the 5th Gen 4Runner?

In January, I decided to upgrade the front door speakers before I drove to Florida.

I chose the JL C1-690 component system, because it had a high efficiency rating and good low frequency extension. I don't plan on adding a subwoofer, so I wanted to get the most out of the existing locations possible.

    20200114_180917-1.jpg

    20200118_191835-1.jpg

I looked into mounting plates for the tweeters, but I decided that I would just fashion something myself. I had this weird idea to use the original dash speakers as brackets. I removed the cone and voice-coil and glued the JL tweeter to the basket, and it worked perfectly!

    20200118_180730-1.jpg

    20200118_201940.jpg

    They sound great!

Eventually, I'd like to do the rest of the speakers, and replace the head unit with something a little nicer.

I heard they have checkpoints going into Florida, I wonder if that is true? Crazy times but for a good reason I suppose, lots of elderly in Florida

I read that they weren't allowing anyone into the Keys. I don't know about the whole state, though.

My Mom and her Boyfriend are still down there. They usually come back in April or May. I wonder if this is going to make it difficult for them to leave.

Great read! Especially the 80s-90s models named. Brings back memories of simpler time! We had a used 84(?) Corolla SR5 coupe auto as our first car.
