Looks like a great place and there's lots of information on some pretty awesome 4Runners!!!

I have a question, my 1989 4Runner 2.4L 4x4 has a tear on the driver's side CV axle boot. What's a quality cv axle to replace it with? I'm looking for some quality and what I'm finding online tends to be Chinese parts :(

    Thanks y'all!
    Greg

Welcome aboard Greg! Lots of good ppl here. I've had torn CV boots for the past 15 years. The CVs are still in great shape. Course I have locking hubs so they only turn at relatively slow speed off-road. If I were to replace, it would be with OEM Toyota parts.

Thanks for the reply! My only concern is it's oozing moly grease from the boot. My first choice is OEM Toyota but so far I've been unable to locate any. Do you know of a site or company?

P.S. Our 4Runners look almost identical, mine is a white w/blue interior 1989 2.4L SR5. BTW how did you mount your rack, that I saw in several photos?

It clamps to the rain gutters.
As far as CVs goes, I'm always on the hunt at dismantlers for 86-95 IFS trucks and 4rnrs.
    Got any pics?

Thanks for the info! I bought it 3 weeks ago and installed a new pitman arm due to extreme play in the steering. I'm going to replace the brakes as they are spongy. Other than those 3 things the truck is in excellent condition and drives great. I'll have to get some photos of it soon. Thanks again!!!

I got a quote of $320 for a brand new Toyota OEM front CV axle is that competitive or?

I'm not quite sure on the price as I've never shopped for CVs. Is that price for both? And u replaced the pitman arm..? Usually it's the idler arm that wears out on these trucks. When replacing the idler, go with one from a 2nd gen. They thicker and more rigid.

    My mistake it's $243.09, here's a link to it http://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/...6&Filter=()&Location=front-drive-shaft,,43420

Yes, I replaced the pitman arm as it was totally worn out, thanks for the tip on the idler arm. Will it attach with no issues?

Hey, everyone what's the size for the rear wiper on the 1989 model? Looks to be about 14 inches to me. Thanks!
