This video has the details on building a 1gr-fe and it's open deck. The basic things are the pistons/sleeves, I think the crank is forged.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkwh3TBvjaw

I didn't ProCharger mine to rock crawl faster or rip out tree stumps, I wanted to have a fighting chance at merging when loaded up and make it easier for my SO to drive on long trips.

The only thing I'd bring up is to consider how this will affect maintenance, don't worry about the blower maintenance it's self. Will you be able to fix a broken serpentine or blower belt on the trail? What is it in the way of that will require it to come off (injectors/plugs?).

My intercooler plumbing is a bit more involved than the mag so it takes additional time for certain things, but I can pull the head unit completely off in about 10 minutes and most of it's not that big of a deal.

This gent nailed this video and the science behind this topic. What a clinic he put on this subject.

I looked into procharger you got $6850 plus installation if your not comfortable with installation plus you’ll need a $500 tune to squeeze the most from it. Without tuneProcharger guys said it would take me from 260hp to 300 optimally. If having it installed it will be another 1200-1500 from the estimates i got averaged. I decided to do a cold air intake and full exhaust to boost power without breaking the bank and is still pretty noticeable if you want a lower cost performance upgrade. Not knocking the value of the supercharger just couldn’t swing it cost wise myself.

Exhaust and CAI are basically worthless without a tune. It's not worth it especially on these cars.

No one slaps on a SC and doesnt tune...

What a sad story for the owner. he might have never thought his supercharge joy would be short lived.
I'm thinking to myself this 4Runner might be up for sale if the owner trade it in. And the Selling dealership may never expose that it was supercharged in its past life. People like me thinking to buy 5th gen 4Runner since they are no more available to buy new, things like this may be impossible to find out.

I did the install of my TRD blower and it wasn't all that bad. I used a long breaker bar and the starter to break the crank bolt loose. My DeWalt wouldn't break it loose but still no reason to take it to a shop.

Also URD a blower in the video.

Buy a fun car instead. When I want speed, I drive my Subbie.

Exactly what The Car care Nut said. He said the bottom end, cams, timing chain may not hold up. "You are severely diminish the reliability".

It was. and it took so long for him the Nut guy to make a video out of it. All the supercharger haters love this one - @kmeeg in particular. Look, he said, the SC didn't do this, it was poor installation and the lack of knowing how to QC the install which the owner is supposed to do.

In any event, those of us that like the mod and the extra power have enjoyed the benefits of it. You just have to maintain it, understand it, and not abuse it either. I think the SC still is solid and adds flexibility to an engine that obviusly needs the extra power. BTW, the SC used in the video was not one of the most common brands (Magnuson) and I could tell the Nut Care guy was very careful not to get into blaming the mod, he was more or less saying the install was not done right. He even said, he liked it when he drove it.

:laser: The maggie lives! and it is fun indeed.
